And you are again using St. Mary's County as the standard. You've been called out on the bullchit 5 days number you blurted out. That's considerably more than anyone else gets (on average).

Really? where? the only thing many people have said is that teachers MAY work more than 1440 hours a year.

Two things,

1)when you start out at 1440 hours a year your 600 less than the average worker. Just like the Teacher, the average worker works more than his 2080 hours a year, wheres the great outcry of support for them? if its so great that a teacher does it, why arent there parades when the average guy does it too?

because its part and parcel of doing your job.

2) Does being (or related) to a teacher matter? You've made claims on what a thankless unapreciated job it is to be a teacher, and how terrible it is they have to work at home. Only making the point that they have a greater amount of time off comparatively.

Hence a $40k a year teacher is paid more than a $40k a year common worker.

Wrong about what? They have those days off, the teacher MAY do work on them. The ones you've been exposed to actually may do work on days off, but its not universal AND its not required.

teachers work hard, just like everyone else
teachers get paid a fair amount, just like everyone else
teachers deserve to take a vacation once in a while, just like everyone else.

no, not 'MAY', HAS TO. They HAVE TO do the work. It doesn't magically get done because there is a snow day.

Why do you think papers and midterms are done before breaks?

Since you seem to be having trouble keeping up, I'll answer for you.

It's so the teachers can grade them at home. Not 'may' do them at home.

Also, since you seem to be on this kick saying teachers 'may' do work at home, where else do you propose they do their work?

It isn't in school, because that's where they're actually teaching.

It was, Andy went off on some tangent because he still has to empty the trash on smow days, but only the original poster felt anything other than what you wrote.

It's turned into teachers get paid fair, they don't work as hard for the $40k ($30k -Andy) for the 9 months they work as the private sector that makes $40k ($60-80k on average) for 12 months.
