And yes, if i don't I would HOPE someone would put a boot up my daughters butt when she is six months from graduating.. Luckily for me I had great mentors and professors at college that led me down the right path, and made sure I did everything I needed to do to be successful..

You graduate in SIX months and you're worried about a graduation party!?? Do YOU HAVE A JOB OFFER YET!???? I graduated in Dec 2000, and in Jun of 2000 I already had a signed contract. Get off of your azz and go get a job!! If you haven't got a signed job offer yet, and haven't formally sent out 200 resume's you are SLACKING!! You should already be a seasoned interviewee by now, and taking your pick from offers..

Many potential employers don't want to talk until your last semester.

Wanting to stay in one geographic location will severely limit your chances of getting a job. I threw caution to the wind and accepted the job that I thought (notice I said thought) was the best one and where ever I ended up living was up to fate.

Wow, I'm glad everyone is so busy bashing me. I guess I'm just wasting my last summer of being a student by being interning at one company and getting extra experience with another company on the side, while I'm also sending my resume out to every place I can think of and uh, going on interviews. I'm so lazy, it's incredible.

And yet, we hear nothing of your multiple offers of employment..

or are you contemplating several offers, and weighing the advantages of a six figure income over benefits??

And I don't think I've ever said anything bad, just giving my two cents..

as in, if you HAVEN'T, you should.. and if you HAVE then it doesn't really apply to you now does it??

How can you begin to compare your situation to Janey's? If the date in your profile is true you were 38 when you graduated, Janey is only 22. Employers look at your educational background but experience is also a huge part of being selected for a job. With 16 more years I'm sure you were in a better position to find a job, plus you are in Computer Science, back in 2000 we still didn't know the .com bubble had burst, you had the perfect degree.

Give her some words of support or at least try to see things from her perspective...which means taking her age into consideration.

Just one more thing to woe about, huh?

Your own woes would indicate as much AND I wouldn't go there if I were you. Do it and be content, just once, please. No, pretty please with sugar on top and a cherry with shaved chocolate too!

Nah, not lazy. Maybe easily depressed but not lazy.

The .com bubble HAD burst already, my background in a Recon Platoon and as an Army Recruiter wasn't much help, although yes I was 38, and already retired from my first career. I didn't mean to say we were alike, just that if she wasn't looking or didn't have a signed offer, she should be more worried about the job prospects then a party.

Dear No Balls:

I'm not enabling her at all as I do not even know Janey. I do see that she is trying to make something of her life. I applaud that. She is young. Maybe she doesn't have great judgment and is a little immature. So what?

Since you didn't sign your constructive Karma, I don't know if you have raised a child..actually raised one to an adult. Did they make mistakes? Did they do and/or say stupid things? Did they continue to the same dumb things even after you pointed out in your infinite widsom that they were still doing and saying stupid things? She's on the right track and should be commended. If she were my child, I'd be proud of her and I told her so.

If it makes you feel bigger to bash her, then go right ahead and hit me with red again, if that makes you feel better.
