DeSantis: ‘If You Stand Your Ground … If You Don’t Back Down … There’s A Groundswell Of Folks Who Will Have Your Back’

“If you were a mediocre Democrat governor, or if you had been a Cuomo, a disastrous governor, you wouldn’t be getting this kind of attention, would you?” he asked.

“No,” DeSantis answered bluntly. “Look, when you’re over the target, they’re gonna come at you. But what I view it as, I view it as positive feedback. If the corporate press nationally isn’t attacking me, then I’m probably not doing my job. So the fact that they are attacking me is a good indication that you know what? I’m tackling the big issues. We’re going after Critical Race Theory; we’re fighting back against Biden’s mandates; we’re fighting back against the illegal immigration, all those things that a vast majority of Floridians and Americans want to see done.”

Ron DeSantis Slams Justices Roberts and Kavanaugh For Lacking ‘Backbone’ On Healthcare Worker Mandate Decision

“But on the medical, the nurse mandate and the doctor mandate, Roberts and Kavanaugh joined with the liberals to allow the nurse mandate,” DeSantis said.

“Here’s what’s going on. Think about how insane this is,” he continued. “Now in Florida, we protected the nurses, so we have people who are working. But in other states, they fired nurses who were not vaccinated. Many of them have natural immunity from prior infection. So they fire them. Now they’re so shorthanded, they’re bringing back nurses who are COVID positive.”

“Honestly, Roberts and Kavanaugh didn’t have a backbone on that decision. That’s the bottom line,” DeSantis added.

DeSantis made similar comments earlier in the day on Thursday at a press conference in Panama City, Florida. The governor emphasized that CMS mandate made zero sense given the “ineffectiveness” of the vaccines to stop the transmission of the COVID-19.

Critics accuse DeSantis of base pandering as he pushes bill to shield white people in Florida from ‘discomfort’ at school or in job training

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A bill pushed by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that would prohibit public schools and private businesses from making white people feel “discomfort” when they teach students or train employees about discrimination in the nation’s past received its first approval Tuesday.

The Senate Education Committee approved the bill that takes aim at critical race theory — though it doesn’t mention it explicitly — on party lines, with Republicans in favor and Democrats opposed.

Democrats argued the bill isn’t needed, would lead to frivolous lawsuits and said it would amount to censorship in schools. They asked, without success, for real-life examples of teachers or businesses telling students or employees that they are racist because of their race.
“This bill’s not for Blacks. This bill was not for any other race. This was directed to make whites not feel bad about what happened years ago,” said state Sen. Shevrin Jones, who is Black. “At no point did anyone say white people should be held responsible for what happened, but what I would ask my white counterparts is, are you an enabler of what happened or are you going to say we must talk about history?”

FL Surgeon General responds to feds on monoclonals, as state closes sites

On Monday, the FDA revised the Emergency Use Authorization for the monoclonal antibody drugs from companies Regeneron and Eli Lilly, saying laboratory studies show the treatments are likely ineffective against the Omicron variant.

The FDA said that a third drug, Sotrovimab, does work against Omicron. But supplies are limited. CDC data shows the Omicron variant now makes up roughly 99 percent of all U.S. COVID-19 cases, including in Florida.

A spokesperson for Eli Lilly told CBS12 New the company agreed with the federal government’s decision to limit use of their drug, saying evaluations “confirm [their drug] is not effective at treating the currently predominant Omicron variant.”

But, Florida officials were taken aback by the decision and lashed out at the Biden Administration, saying the move to limit two COVID treatments was abrupt.

In an exclusive interview with CBS12 News, Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo said he had hoped the federal government would do an additional clinical study, to determine with certainly the two drugs did not work against Omicron.

What is our takeaway supposed to be when the manufacturer of the drug says is doesn't work against Omicron?

The FDA said in its statement that it is removing the authorization because the treatments “are highly unlikely to be active against the omicron variant.”

“Florida disagrees with the decision that blocks access to any available treatments in the absence of clinical evidence,” the Florida Health Department blasted in a press release. “To date, such evidence has not been provided by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).”

“In the future, if patients in certain geographic regions are likely to be infected or exposed to a variant that is susceptible to these treatments, then use of these treatments may be authorized in these regions,” the FDA statement reads.

So wait, why just Floridians will be affected, if these treatments help against Omicron, won’t that harm people in other states?

And what ever happened to you folks saying it’s ‘just a cold’? I never remember stories like this about a cold before. :whack:

FDA Uses “Omicron” as Excuse to End Emergency Use Authorization for Monoclonal Antibody Treatments

There are several problems with this act. The Delta variant is still out there, and Regeneron has been effective against that strain. It can be difficult to distinguish between the two variants, so perhaps it would be wiser to have doctors decide.

And while it may be true that Regeneron isn’t as effective against Omicron, the move has the appearance of being politically motivated due to the fact several red states have had success with monoclonal antibody treatment clinics. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis railed against the decision.

DeSantis referenced anecdotal cases in which people were helped by the monoclonal antibody treatments and said it was “reckless” to block the drugs.
“People have a right to access these treatments, and to revoke it on this basis is just fundamentally wrong and we’re going to fight back,” DeSantis said at a news conference.

It costs over $6,000 a dose for something that even the governor says is only ‘anecdotally working’.

what ever happened to Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin?

and why is a governor having a press conference about a cold?

‘A 9 To 5 Job Should Not Be A N-95 Job’: DeSantis Announces New Guidance To Free Florida Workers From Masks

“Every time I go to these places, I’ll be in these big events and you have all these people having such a good time and the poor servers are forced to mask and I will ask them, ‘Are you allowed to take the mask off?’ They say not yet,” he shared.

“They’re all waiting for it. They all want to be liberated. They want to be treated normally,” DeSantis added.

The video follows a press release last week from DeSantis and Florida’s Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo that announced significant changes to Florida’s COVID-19 guidance “including pushing back on unscientific corporate masking, reducing isolation for all Floridians including those in schools and daycares, and recommending that physicians should exercise their individual clinical judgment and expertise based on their patients’ needs and preferences.”

Ron DeSantis Drops The Hammer On Critics Who Are Mad He Told Kids To Ditch Masks

Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) fired back Thursday at critics who were upset he told students at a Wednesday school event that they could take off their face masks, referring to them as part of “COVID theater.”

DeSantis included footage of the event in a new video that he tweeted with the caption, “The political science show cannot go on. It’s curtain call for COVID theater.”

DeSantis’ video showed the original interaction between DeSantis and the students, and then cut to video of Tuesday evening’s State of the Union address – where almost no one was wearing a mask following Monday’s rollback of the Capitol Hill mask mandate.

Ron DeSantis Bullies Kids Into Doing Whatever They Want

FLORIDA—Governor Ron DeSantis has come under harsh criticism for bullying a group of kids by forcing them to make their own choices and do whatever they want. The college kids were just minding their own business, wearing masks as instructed when DeSantis rudely offered to let them consider other options.

“Take those masks off right now, or keep them on—just do whatever you want! Hey, you're an American and America is a free country! You do you, man!” said a scary and imposing Governor DeSantis, intimidating the kids and leaving them with no choice but to choose whatever they wanted.

Florida Legalizes Stuffing Kids Who Wear Masks Into Lockers, Giving Them Wedgies

TALLAHASSEE, FL—Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has just signed into law a bill that legalizes stuffing kids who wear masks into lockers, giving them wedgies, and putting them into trash cans upside-down.

While previously these actions would have been prosecutable under charges like assault, battery, and false imprisonment, they are now legal actions to take as long as you're a student bullying other students for wearing masks.

"In other states, you can get detention or even criminal charges for this kind of bullying," said DeSantis. "But not on my watch. Here, in the free state of Florida, you can do whatever you want to those dweebs." DeSantis says the measure will intimidate kids who still want to wear masks, making them into men or women, "the only two genders you can be."
