What did you have to pay $2000. for? Didn't you have insurance at the time?

Tell me about it. Glad I'm not with them anymore.elaine said:Holy cow! That insurance sucked.
Then you figure, that was my 20% obligation.elaine said:Holy cow! That insurance sucked.

I totally agree, but I also know that there will be extraordinary circumstances. My dad & stepmom had 2 appliances go the heck in a matter of 1-month, plus their sump. Luckily for them they had the money, but not everyone will have that much saved.elaine said:They're our responsibility, and if we can't keep enough money in savings to take up our own slack, how will we take up the slack for our pets?

Which is probably why I don't have a Pug right now. I don't want to go through the baby stage.elaine said:I just couldn't see myself adopting a pet right now. It would be selfish.
The heck it is.baileydog said:The baby stage is a pain, but worth it
CarolG said:I don't understand some of you. Just because they don't have the money for the surgery does not mean they don't love their dog and a lot of vets won't work with you on a payment plan. It seemed like you all thought the dog was abused. Who knows Maybe I just read it wrong.

If you couldn't afford to take care of your own medical needs, how would you take care of your cat if it needed a surgery or medical care above and beyond normal shots/check-ups? I'm not being judgemental; I admire anyone willing to take in and care for an animal (moreso those who rescue/adopt vs buy). But you have to be real going into it knowing that there are expenses associated with it above and beyond food and treats. If you can't or aren't capable of covering those expenses when that time comes, then perhaps you should hold off on bringing home a cat or dog.Chasey_Lane said:Does this mean I shouldn't have my cat? I mean, obviously I can't pay my bills, right?

Perhaps, but Chasey directed a question to me, so I responded. :shrug:RiverBunny said:Not trying to ruffle feathers with a crab, but I have been reading this thread since it started and have remained silent. My question is, aren't you just echoing the exact same sentiments that have been already well received and expressed in this thread throughout?
