Found Dog in Country Lakes

Dear ICit, blow me. :moon:

You are more than welcome to come get the dog and do the leg work to find the owner. :yay:

I have a large sign at the top of my driveway stating that I've found a dog. I'm sorry, but I am not going out of my way to post flyers all over the neighborhood. It is not my duty to find the owners, it is the duty of the owners to look for their dog. And yes, I already have plans to have him checked for a chip. Again, not going out of my way to rush up to the vet to have him scanned. My other dog has an appointment this week and was going to bring him along.

You can sit there and speculate until the cows come home about how the dog wound up running up the middle of a busy street. It really doesn't matter to me one way or the other. It happens. If the owners find him fine, if they don't that is fine as well. I certainly won't be dropping him off at the pound.

It is absolutely ridiculous to turn this whole thing into some huge drama. There needn't be any. The dog is fine and if the owners are distraught and miss him, then they will put out the effort to find him.

you go girl :buddies:

right.... gave her ideas how to TRY to locate owners.... :yay: if she want to keep it.. great for the dog, but do more than post in the dang forum

I was not the only one that noticed the nails.... this makes me think he was an inside ONLY dog. hence nail dont see rough surface much .. unlike most Amish dogs that are outside and do wear their nails down.

It would be great for him to have a home that would care for him... but be fair to who may own him. For all we know it could be an older person not capable of placing flyers.

you go girl....

Glad you are taking good care of the dog.

There may some reason the person didn't t drive down YOUR street. Maybe the dog ia lost from a completely different neighborhood? Maybe the dog was with people who were traveling through the area and he got away from them (slipped his collar?) or who knows what the situation could be.

It's too early for you to be drinking. :nono:

Ark, if the dog lived anywhere near Christy, her neighborhood would be the obvious place to go looking. And her house is on a main drag, so there's no way the owner could miss her sign. IF they are looking for the dog, and IF they're smart enough to figure out where it probably went.

I fail to see how someone advocating that if you find a dog and take it in, that you do more than pick your nose and post on a forum in an attempt to find the dog's owner, warrants a comment like 'blow me' followed by a rant.

IMHO, if you are going to take it upon yourself to shelter and by default confine the dog, you are obligated to at least make some effort to locate an owner.

We see forum members posting 'lost dog' stuff on here all the time. Often for others who don't access this forum. Sometimes they don't get the dog back the next day. Just because the dog is dirty and such, does not mean it was abandoned or dumped... it could easily be that the dog has wandered across half the county, and some family somewhere is wondering WTH happened to their dog. Matter of fact, if the dog had been stray for very long, he probably wouldn't have been so keen on coming to you.

Thanks for taking the dog in and keeping it safe, but dayum, ya don't have to go b*tch rocket because someone asked if you put up flyers...

What if they don't live nearby? What if they recently moved between counties and the dog got lost trying to go 'home', or he jumped out of the car, or chased a scent halfway across the known universe (which for a dog is about 20 miles, LOL)? Some dogs wander when they get loose.

Just sayin'.

Poor doggy might be missing its family - I hope someone isn't crying over their lost dog and doesn't manage to find it. I always worry there are some "warm & fuzzy" people (shut-up Turbo lol) crying over their lost pet you know? Hard to say how far a dog will travel though so hopefully they put in a lost report at Tri-County.
