Thanks for taking the dog in and keeping it safe, but dayum, ya don't have to go b*tch rocket because someone asked if you put up flyers...

This is the best flyer she could possibly have used. Even if the owner isn't on the forums, they almost certainly know people who are. And one would think they'd be enlisting the help of their friends to find the missing dog, then one of the friends could say, "Hey! Christy on the Southern Maryland Online forums posted that she found a dog in Country Lakes that looks just like Schmedley!"

Pretty simple stuff.

I always worry there are some "warm & fuzzy" people (shut-up Turbo lol) crying over their lost pet you know?

Well, they should have either kept better track of it or started looking for it the second they knew it was missing. I mean, really, if your dog goes missing, how long would it be before you'd notice?

Yeahhhh..... what, just guessing... 250,000 people in the tri-county area? Maybe oh, 200 actually regulars and ACTIVE on this forum? Heck call it 2000. That still leaves 248,000 who may not even consider this as a resource to find their dog. My dog gets lost first thing I'm doing is calling AC, not jumping on the forum.

Now, that said, I would think that if the dog was being sought after by an owner, and was in Chrity's area, THEY would have put up flyers... I'm not saying she should carpet the county or hire a c-130 to drop leaflets... but maybe a call to AC and shelters, and a couple flyers at FastStop and WaWa. Just simple, easy stuff.

Adopt me please !
Personally? I wouldn't even go to work if my dog was missing - I'd be making reports at EVERY neighboring County too - AND I'd be out LOOKING and calling my dog - I'd get help if I could and I'd put up flyers and ALSO take them DOWN when I found my dog. Gosh I just CAN'T STAND people who put of flyers then don't take them down!!!!! :cds:

BUT I can get around (able-bodied and have transportation) and I am a warm & fuzzy pet person - not everyone would care as much if their dog ran off and/or would react as quickly as I would.

Christy, I think you should just turn the dog out and let him find his own way home.

You really are unbelievable you know that? How many times have we seen 'lost dog' posts on here? Not every one is found right away. Some are still missing months later. Those dogs are likely either dead, or scattered halfway between here and Mobile AL. Someone finds one they may never locate the owner. Doesn't mean they shouldn't put in at least a minimal effort to do so. Doesn't mean the owner didn't care or didn't notice the dog was gone...

That's a pretty sucky assumption, that the dog was abandoned or the owners 'don't care'. I'll have to remember that the next time a forumite let's their dog run off and posts on here. The fact that it got away in the first place shows how little they care, right?

Wrong. There are a ton of people who read these forums every day and never post.

Glad you are taking good care of the dog.

There may some reason the person didn't t drive down YOUR street. Maybe the dog ia lost from a completely different neighborhood? Maybe the dog was with people who were traveling through the area and he got away from them (slipped his collar?) or who knows what the situation could be.

There very well may be a reason, but it's not my job to search the county for the owners. The dog has a collar, no tags. I feel for the folks who lost him, I really do. Dogs get out, dogs run off, it happens. I posted his picture in here and I've asked around with the neighbors. I am not making it my full time job to locate his owners.

Most of them are actually google and yahoo spiders silly. :lmao:

Seriously, yes I know... but how many would think to come here looking for a dog, just because they come here to check news or current events? There is a great huge segment of the population that cannot write an effective google search term, let alone figure out how to search this forum for 'missing dog'. It's true!!

Okay, I'm not trying to be a ##### to you, but I think I know my forum and its stats just a pinch better than you do. But feel free to run your fingers and tell me all about it. :yay:

Christy,
I saw you on Good Morning America and Fox and Friends this morning with the dog. You looked great! Did you get any calls on the national hot line yet?

I fail to see how someone advocating that if you find a dog and take it in, that you do more than pick your nose and post on a forum in an attempt to find the dog's owner, warrants a comment like 'blow me' followed by a rant.

IMHO, if you are going to take it upon yourself to shelter and by default confine the dog, you are obligated to at least make some effort to locate an owner.

We see forum members posting 'lost dog' stuff on here all the time. Often for others who don't access this forum. Sometimes they don't get the dog back the next day. Just because the dog is dirty and such, does not mean it was abandoned or dumped... it could easily be that the dog has wandered across half the county, and some family somewhere is wondering WTH happened to their dog. Matter of fact, if the dog had been stray for very long, he probably wouldn't have been so keen on coming to you.

Thanks for taking the dog in and keeping it safe, but dayum, ya don't have to go b*tch rocket because someone asked if you put up flyers...

Turbo you can blow me too. I wasn't the one who started being a "b*tch rocket". I don't appreciate being talked to like an idiot and that I am somehow negligent for not finding the owners. NOT MY JOB. I am not obligated to do anything. I wasn't obligated to get him out of the middle of the road. The dog would likely be road kill if I hadn't have gotten him. You folks who profess to be such animal experts really need to get over yourself.
