Gas Prices...

Did anyone hear the full interview with Peter Franchot on TBone and Heather this morning?

It sounds like although the 30-day repeal of the state gas tax may be signed today, we will not see an immediate price drop at the pump, if ever. There will be a delay because the gas in stations' tanks has already be taxed, and there's no mechanism to keep station owners from pocketing the savings.
Well that is just like when the gas station owners buy the gas in their tanks at a lower price and then the price is increased (by order of the government) and it is sold for WAY more than what was paid for it. Same same. There is always a "lag". And there is always profiteering. The Feds and Annapolis crowds have to get THEIR beaks wet.

3 thoughts on gas Prices -

#1 - yesterday every Wawa from Ridge to Dunkirk had gas at $3.75. Most other places were $3.63-$3.65. Is Wawa screwing you over (not me - I don’t go to Wawa) by pocketing extra profit from the gas tax relief?

#2 - Until now, 2008 was our highest gas prices going over $4 per gallon. With inflation and cost of living increases over the last 14 years, shouldn’t we be paying like $8 a gallon now?

#3 - we got no break in 2008 from gas taxes in 2008 so why this year? Gas is relatively cheap now compared to then. (See #2)

Yesterday Callaway Shell was at $3.75. Sheetz was still at $3.63. Sheetz caught up with them today.

Gas prices likely to surge again, expert says

National average price per gallon is projected to rise to around $4.15-$4.20

Following a brief dip, gas prices are projected to surge once again, with the national average potentially reaching $4.20 a gallon, according to an industry expert.

Over the past week, gasoline futures rose 30 cents "which is just bad news for the consumer," according to Andy Lipow, president of Lipow Oil Associates.

"How does the world come up with nearly 5 million barrels per day of alternate supplies if the European Union were to ban all Russian oil imports? Lipow said. "It simply can’t do it today."

On top of that, two Libyan oil ports were also recently shut down due to protests calling for the country's prime minister to resign, exacerbating the issue, according to Lipow.

Cook's in Park Hall and Blimpy's in Hermanville were both $3.95 this morning. Everyone else from Great Mills to Leanardtown and Oakville to Lexington Park was $3.99.
