I thought she was talking about mine...

Less stressful yes, Kizzy but, are you any happier being cynical

1. Distrusting or disparaging the motives or sincerity of others. 2. Showing contempt for accepted standards of honesty or morality...3. a person who shows or express a bitterly or sneeringly attitude.

If its not too personal, what made you turn cynical

Kizzy, do you really want to say "bite me" to another woman on a gay thread  :killingme:

Let me sorta answer your cynical question as I see it (not trying to put words into Kizzy's mouth). It's not so much cynicism as it is realism. I learned at a fairly young age (19) that you cannot just grant someone trust, because not everyone deserves it. I consider myself a realist in that I don't assume the best about someone, but I don't assume the worst either. If someone wants my trust, they must earn it. I would much rather go through life with a small group of friends whom I'd trust with my life, than be burned by any number of people at any point in my life.

Personal Dems and you know what, yes, it is better. It is one thing to be a trusting and caring person, but you really have to know where to stick the boundaries, and I think :biteme: is fine. At least I didn't say lick me. :ohwell:

Anyway, this got :offtopic:

*ahem* I hate to take this thread way off topic, but I've always been standoffish in a way. Free spirited is the way I’ve had it put to me in the past, work is work, but life in general is what we make it.

I’ve often thought I have had excellent premonitions about people in general. However, when an incident happens or you begin to see things differently because you felt burnt, used, whatever, you realize that maybe your premonitions are not as good as you once thought. For the most part, this isn’t an important realization, but considering what I have chosen to do as a career, you question yourself and your ability to read people for what they are and who they are, and I know in my case, I questioned if I was even in the right job. Lets face it, if I make poor judgments based on poor premonitions, and because I want to think that people are basically good, it could be dangerous coupled with the fact that I am my OWN worst critic.

Nevertheless, it is thru our trials and tribulations that we find a niche and in a sense that is what being skeptical means to me. It doesn't mean I've turned my back on anything. It just means that I approach it with a different view than before, so in a sense, Nickel is correct.

I realized a couple years ago that I wasn't that great of a judge of character when the person I held above all others (as far as morals and character go) died of a cocaine overdose. :ohwell:

I REALLY hate to bring this back up, but I've been doing some research and my thoughts are this:

In the OT, God condemns homosexuality for his chosen people, the Children of Israel. And for those that need it in writing, please reference Leviticus 18:1-3,22. Gods prohibition of homosexuality applies only to the Hebrews, not the Gentiles.

The NT says nothing about homosexuality. Paul condemns them, but not because he wants to increase population, but because he disapproves of all sexual activity. Please reference 1 Corninthians 7:1, 5, 8-9, 29.

My conclusion is that according to the Bible, if you are a Jew or a Christian virgin, the Bible gives you no right to bash gays. If you want to be like Jesus, you won't condemn them at all. :patriot:

Chasey, this is a very good point. Thank you.
I've noticed it's pick and choose your testament version throughout this whole thread which is very confusing. Either you follow the whole thing, or you follow just the new testament or you follow just the old testament. But I read conflicting statements by the same people who say basically - you must follow the bible (which I thought was the whole thing), but when Jazz brought up specific sections, those same people said it doesn't apply since it's the old testament and meant for Jews only. Which if that's the case, the whole condeming of homosexuality is just an old testament thing and therefore should not apply to Christians. Right? Especially since it was Paul not Jesus who had anything to say on the matter in the new testament.
Good for you Chasey, for shedding some light on the conflicting statements made.

Explain how I am misinformed  Apparently you don't think others can voice their opinion, mighty big of you. :hidingbehindredcarma: :boxing:
Don't feel bad. I got the same kind of thing and probably from the same hit-and-run idiot:

By the way, dingus, the word does NOT have a dash and is properly spelled "misquoting." :neener:
