Getting along with the Ex

Some of you may have noticed that Larry and I get along remarkably well for two people who are divorced from each other. In fact, we still actually *like* each other. To the point that some posters thought we were still married.

There are tons of examples of exes who loathe each other, but how many of you have a pretty good relationship with your ex-spouse and keep in touch socially even if you don't share children and there's no real reason to do so? I mean, there have to be more of us - Larry and I cannot be unique.

A girlfriend of mine is still friends with her ex-husband to the point that they vacation together with their respective spouses and everyone gets along fabulously.

I don't really get along with my ex... but my husband's ex has become my best friend :jet:

Most significant others current bf/gf have a problem with you maintaining a relationship/friendship with an ex... I am fine with maintaining a friendship, it is usually someones new friend that gets in the way of that... You do have a unique relationship and I have the same with an ex of mine I dated in my early twenties.

There's something to that because my first husband and I got along just fine...until he got remarried. Really, every conflict we had after that was instigated by her and his having to "tell me what" at her urging. Larry will vouch for that because he got to see it firsthand numerous times.

Hey, one ex, two ex's, whatever - what's the difference?

Failure all around.

A whole lot like society today. And our government.

I'm letting my ex stay in my spare bedroom.

...it kind of freaks out the GF
GF realized why you had her get such specific plastic surgery? She didn't appreciate being made over by you to look like your ex? Who do you think she is? Scott Thorson?

I get along with my ex just fine.....as long as I don't have to see her or talk to her for the rest of my life.

I have a neighbor that is good friends with her ex. I thought it was funny that she divorced a Fred and then married an Ed. Ed and Fred didn't know each other before the divorce and they go fishing together now.

It could be because they don't spend enough time courting before setting up house. After a year or so they realize they actually hate them.

My ex and I get along OK, but would probably not talk at all if we didn't have kids. We just really wouldn't have any occasion to talk otherwise.

I get along well with my first ex. Now. But it was not that way 22 years ago when we split up...not at all.

We have kids, but I still won't talk to the witch. Email is as close as I get.
