I have already posted that there is indeed a spiritual world. Unholy or evil spirits, demons, roam the earth. I believe the Bible to be true. Jesus cast out demons as attested to in the gospels. The apostles did too. If you want quotes, I will supply them. The Bible says there is a vast gulf or chasm between those on the earth and those human spirits that have gone on to the afterlife and the human spirits do not come back. See the account of the rich man and Lazarus. That says to me that when you hunt for ghosts and encounter something, you are encountering an evil spirit not a spirit of a human that has died.

2A, I believe Sleuth was asking if the original script was understood as "Holy Ghost" or "Holy Spirit". Like in whatever language it was orginally written in...Greek or Hebrew...if I'm not mistaken.

Either, as I understand it, but most often as Spirit. The church I go to prefers Ghost. Holy Spirit = Holy Ghost. Same, same. Just as the word that is sometimes translated sword can mean death or destruction depending on context or idiomatic expression.

I feel compelled to put my 2 cents in. I believe in the existence of the "spirit world" and in the power of tarot cards and palmistry and the like. I believe in them but I also believe them to be instruments of Satan. They're evil and to be shunned, along with all other things of Satan. There are so many things out there that Satan uses to obstruct and divert and divide and weaken and deceive people! These are just some of them - easier to identify for what they are than a lot of other things.

I read about and responded to your intuition or premonition. That is entirely different than seeking a medium to contact the dead or ghost hunting. The spirit world is real. If you are hunting ghosts, you are hunting spirits and you just might find one your really don't want to. If you read the article, it did not say you were going to hell automatically. It is going against God's word; it is rebellion. It is like any other sin. Decide for yourself whether you want to obey God or not. That is between you and Him.
Interesting.

I'd like to read more into this 2A, if you have the time to still supply.

I don't believe in a "spirit world" per say. I do believe that life is an "energy source". I believe the scientific theory that energy never dies, that it is transferred and continues forever. I believe when a person dies, that energy force, that spark of life leaves the body. I believe that the majority of people only use a very small portion of their brain, and that some people are able to tap into use powers within the brain that are foreign to the rest of us. I can't explain what my sister is able to do. But that doesn't make it not so. :ohwell:

:yeahthat:
We watched a documentary (neither one of us can remember the name of the show or the channel the majority of people only use a very small portion of their brain), but it filmed a home that was haunted and the subsequent exorcism that took place to rid the home of the spirits. It was facinating! :elaine:

Here are a few just from Matthew.
Matthew 4:23-25
23Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.

24The news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them.

25Large crowds followed Him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan.
Matthew 7:21-23

21"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

22"Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'

23"And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'
Matthew 8:15-17

15He touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she got up and waited on Him.

16When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill.

17This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: "HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES."
Matthew 8:28-34

28When He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way.

29And they cried out, saying, "What business do we have with each other, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?"

30Now there was a herd of many swine feeding at a distance from them.

31The demons began to entreat Him, saying, "If You are going to cast us out, send us into the herd of swine."

32And He said to them, "Go!" And they came out and went into the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters.

33The herdsmen ran away, and went to the city and reported everything, including what had happened to the demoniacs.

34And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw Him, they implored Him to leave their region.
Matthew 9:31-33

31But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout all that land.

32As they were going out, a mute, demon-possessed man was brought to Him.

33After the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke; and the crowds were amazed, and were saying, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel."
Matthew 12:22-23

22Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute was brought to Jesus, and He healed him, so that the mute man spoke and saw.

23All the crowds were amazed, and were saying, "This man cannot be the Son of David, can he?"
Matthew 17:14-20

14When they came to the crowd, a man came up to Jesus, falling on his knees before Him and saying,

15"Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic and is very ill; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water.

16"I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him."

17And Jesus answered and said, "You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me."

18And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured at once.

19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not drive it out?"

20And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

When you delve into the occult, you open yourself for demon possession.

Wonderfully said! I think you can believe in many different things and have a great life. I am an energy believer as well. Everyone is included.

I know someone who claims to have a bit of a sixth sense. Claims that she sometimes experiences chills that signal to her that there's a presence nearby.

She claims to have seen several ghosts, most of them in places that are "known" to be haunted - one being the Story Inn in Brown County, Indiana.

A few months ago I spent an evening in a campground cabin with her and some other friends. That was one scary evening. Unintelligible whispers in our ears when everyone was asleep. Angry footsteps that couldn't be explained. I was the ultimate skeptic before that night. And by 3 am I had the lights on and wasn't going back to sleep.
