Unfortunately a huge part of becoming a leader of either party is who is the best fundraiser. McCarthy raised a lot on money for the Reps. Scalise may fall into that camp as well, but he may be someone everyone can rally around. He's already in the leadership so no chance of loosing someone like Jordan or Comer from their committee chairs.

I read a few twitter complaints about how poor Nancy was attending a funeral for a dear friend. Or was she attending a rally which are generally fundraisers.

Honestly, Gaetz just showed the courage and leadership we should be expecting out of ALL our representatives, so I think he'd make a great Speaker.

By working with the Dems to oust McCarthy because McCarthy was working with the Dems to temporarily keep the government open.

Fund raising is supposed to be Ronna McRomney's job, but big donors want some stuff in exchange and only a member of Congress can give them that. Our whole government is nothing more than an organized crime outfit. And if picking these people off one at a time is how it has to happen, there it is. The Republicans are going to have to lead the way because you know damn well the corrupt POS Democrats aren't going to do it.

Big changes start with small steps. Unless you all don't really want change and are just blowing smoke out your ass....

Well that is certainly one way to look at it.

Another way would be that McCarthy was worthless anyway and working with the Democrats to bend us over without lube. So Gaetz used the Democrats against themselves to have McCarthy ousted in favor of someone who will actually lead.

Democrats are stupid. They routinely cut off their nose to spite their face. They're like honeybees who will disembowel themselves in their quest to sting you. Now is the time for strong Republican leadership and let the honeybees sting.

I'm not sure how getting rid of McCarthy and putting a strong leader in his place destroys the Republican Party....

The Dems are not worried a lick about a new stronger Speaker. If they were, a few Dems would have peeled off and voted with the majority of Reps. The Dems are just sitting back enjoying the Rep sh!tshow.

Worthless, which committee chairs/committee assignments did he appoint that you think he shouldn't have? Is there some legislation that you want that he is preventing?

Some Democrats might be seen as stupid, but some are pretty smart and conniving. They want a shutdown so they can add it to the arsenal for 2024 and they will take help from anyone to get it done, even Gaetz.

This ousting is an unforced error, you don't shoot yourself in the foot right before running in a race.
