"I'm a Protestant Christian and I don't know what the correct interpretation is. I do know that, still, no one has shown me where the Bible says I’m going to Hell if I accept a blood transfusion. That don’t eat blood quote from earlier doesn’t cut it. So, until someone can demonstrate were the Bible teaches that blood transfusions are bad, the JW church was wrong in misleading this women thus resulting in her death."

You know, thats a good point.

There was no such thing as a blood transfusion back then. In fact it wouldn't have been possible (unless they used their earthware tubes and needles). How could the bible adamently prohibit something that didn't exist?
...and that further supports the fact that the JW church is way off base on this one.

my point is
although the kids were not to blame, they'll probably blame themselves.

even though they will understand the religious beliefs, they will still always wonder if they were at fault.
"If mom didn't get pregnant with us, she'd still be here."

That's ridiculous, as is your guilt over your twin.

Not everyone thinks like that.

its not a fact just becasue it is YOUR opinion

BTW, there are lots of things that your church is against that wasn't around when the bible was written.

This country was founded on religious freedom.
Now that I can read this whole thread....Since this didn't happen in THIS country, there is nothing stopping Britain from making a law to prevent this in the future. In fact, they may already have a law allowing doctors or next of kin to override her wishes.

...Ummm...if mom did not get pregnant there would be NO kids to wonder "if".

Jews not only refuse to eat meat, but they won't use a heart valve from a pig or other pork by products because of the dietary restrictions. That couldn't be foreseen way back when, either. Does that seem crazy to you?

I don't agree with the JW beliefs, but I can certainly see how they could believe that a prohibition on eating blood wouldn't be circumvented by injecting it instead.

It makes as much sense as other religious beliefs, like not using birth control, not drinking coffee, not drinking alcohol, and not gambling.

Well, I did learn from this thread how to answer my door when the JW's are knocking:

"Would you like to join me in having a warm goblet of blood?"

Maybe I will bring a glass with ketchup in it to answer the door. I bet Kwillia never gets JW's at her door.

Just so you know, if you tell them to please not come back, they won't. Same thing with the young Mormon missionaries.

Dear Bob
I know you love these debates so please take a few minutes out to educate yourself on the religion that is being discussed so you may come back and bash their actual beliefs instead of just tossing stuff out there.

knowing they are willing to SACRIFICE themselves at the altar of their religious beliefs is enough for me to know they are all misled..

I mean, sacrificing a marriage becasuse of ones religion is bad enough, but now we're talking about one's own life.. STUPIDITY AT ITS GREATEST!!

Would you be so supportive if it was a Scientologist that did the same thing?

Bob, could this whole thing be a good example of Darwin's Natural Selection? I'm thinking yes!

That did not work in Upstate NY, where I went to college. We asked them to stop, ignored the door, had girl make out sessions, nothing changed their minds, they kept coming back

And no "free" country can force any medical procedure on an adult.
That is what a Consent form is for....

She still has the right to practice the religion of her choosing.

A lot has changed since Henery the VIII ya know.....

Bob, you get upset when people criticize the beliefs of one religion, but you have no problem belittling another religion. That's hypocritical.

just like your church has shown you that the bible says X about the world. Their church uses the same book to say Z about the world.

if you really want answers to these questions call a JW, i am sure a couple will stop by and tell you all about it, including referenced verses.
May be true but my church doesn't tell me to refuse treatment that can prevent death.
