No, in a perfect world there would be no CS because parents would stay married.

The state doesn't take a cut, it all goes to the custodial parent.
However, we all get to support the CS bureaucracy with our taxes

The states collect the child-support money and deposit it in a state fund, but the federal government pays most of the administrative costs and, therefore, dictates the way the system operates through mandates and financial incentives. The federal government pays 66 percent of the states' administrative overhead costs, 80 percent of computer and technology-enhancement costs, and 90 percent of DNA testing for paternity.

In addition, the states share in a nearly-half-billion-dollar incentive reward pool based on whatever the state collects. The states can get a waiver to spend this bonus money anyway they choose.

However, most of the child support owed by welfare-class fathers is uncollectible. Most are either unemployed or earn less than $10,000 per year.

So, in order to cash in on federal bonus money, build their bureaucracies and brag about successful child-support enforcement, the states began bringing into the government system middle-class fathers with jobs who were never (and probably would never be) on welfare. These non-welfare families have grown to 83 percent of child-support cases and 92 percent of the money collected, creating a windfall of federal money flowing to the states.

The federal incentives drive the system. The more divorces, and the higher the child-support guidelines are set and enforced (no matter how unreasonable), the more money the state bureaucracy collects from the feds.

That was the only thing I bothered to open yesterday:shug:

In a perfect world, would be parents would not be allowed to have children until a 100k trust fund was set up for each progeny (mandatory sterilization) If the parents split, then this fund would be portioned out to the custodial parent until the child reaches the age of 18 (in rational increments) The remainder would go to the child at the age of 18 with the parents having no say.

Until then, you reap the oats that you have sown. Waaaaaaaaaaaah! :bawl:

I don't know where I stand on this issue. Generally speaking, I'm all for men/women paying child support, however, I'd scrub toilets 24/7 before asking my ex for a dime. (not like he has it anyway) It's a pride thing. :ohwell: And yes, I fully realize that my thought process in my child support matter is silly, but it is what it is. I've been tempted at times, just due to him and his wife's incessant whining about being broke, figured it would be a good reality check to see what broke is since I've been there done that in the early years of my son's life. But who needs the headache?

Anyway, that is my late night deep thoughts on the subject. :jameo:

two kids and i got fired from a really good job and career. So i am starting all over. I wonder if i can file for energy assistance and food stamps based on my finicial situtation.

I have been giving her $700 a month since I got fired but they are gonna count arrearges from july 06 which is when I was making more. This is just Fukced up now I see why so many fathers up and run.

Oh well what does not kill me will only make me stronger and poorer.

Make sure you have receipts for all the payments you are making. I had a friend paying CS for a number of years and was not worried about asking her for a receipt of the payment. All of the sudden she claimed she hadn't been receiving the payments and the guy is now being forced by the courts to pay it again because he doesn't have proof that it was ever paid.

Unfortunately, I've heard of some fathers who take lower paying jobs hoping it will reduce the amount of CS they have to pay. For this reason, I believe some courts require payments based upon what the household income was at the time of the divorce. I personally think this is wrong because the job markets are not as secure as they used to be.

Ordered to continue paying $1400 a month even though I only clear $2100 a month.

Oh but I was assured that they will only take 65% of my wages. And the rest will just be put into arrears. That should leave me $735 a month. Since my rent is $700 a month it would seem that I will be homeless after the first deduction This system makes a criminal out of even the honest fathers who try to do the right thing. i think I just want to cry.

You must have visted the same judge a friend of ours did. Two kids (5 and 8) = 1600 a month. His ex wife lives with her boyfriend so technically they wont include his wages in her "income" since they arent married. She doesnt work. Doesnt have to pay for daycare because they kids are at school everyday. Our friend is a great dad and takes his daughters three weekends out of the month. Only to have to meet up with ex with her new coloring job every couple of weeks and her 40 grand SUV which she only got to "transport the kids". The system screws a lot of good people.

That's alot of money... I get 274.00 a month for 1 child.. His father is a no good peice of S#i#!!!!! But thats another story..lol My cuz gets like 1400 or 1600 for her 2 kids... I was like OMG how does Joe make it, I know he makes good money but come on does it take 1400.00 a month for 2 kids... Maybe 800.00/900.00... You should go file something with the court if you don't have that good paying job anymore... I cant see how they are making you pay 1400.00 when you only bring home 2100 maybe 2300 with overtime...

But on another note how long did you go without paying CS and why wouldnt you pay it???? They are your children after all..... Sorry I just dont agree with a father not paying childsupport!!!

:yeahthat: Always a check with Child Support in the memo line. If you need to go to court the bank will run you off a copie of the canceled checks.

You can call him any name in the book because that is your choice. I just hope that you don't respond negatively towards him to your child(ren).
