I feed human grade. I like the California Natural and I give fish oil, vitamin e and vitamin c and yogurt with their food. She could have a problem with corn. Did the vet check her for coccidia? If get was drinking dirty water, she could have come in contact with it. It's not that hard to contract but a pain to get rid of.

Corn! :jameo: Poor Moo. Shy of having her fully allergy tested I think she's allergic to chicken and egg. She's doing better than this is what I feed her. The potato and duck and she does better than anything else I've tried. I tried feeding her a ultra high quality food with no grains at all but it had chicken and she got the craps again. I would always give her egg scraps and sure enough she'd start. I switched back to what I know works well.

I'll have to call them and ask if they checked for that. Where do you purchase the feed you use? The water and living conditions she was in was flithy so I imagine drinking water was the same.

I get mine from Petco. It's not cheap but it's not a bank breaker either.

I went to the new Petco in Prince Frederick and they recommended Nutro??, something like that. I will go back and look for the other stuff. Have you heard of given flagyl, sp.. to pregnant dog for the runs??

The Nutro Naturals are good foods but have corn in them. Corn is the thing that most dogs with allergies will be allergic to. Look for allergy formulas.

Flagyl is the deworming meds, yes? I believe it's safe for pregnant dogs. I'm not 100% positive though.

It might be a good time to take her to the vet. How far along is she? Usually, when an animal has the runs, it's for a reason. I would at least take a fecal sample to the vet and tell them to test it for everything. It's not that expensive. You don't just want to treat the symptom, you want to solve the problem. I would especially want to make sure she's not sick because of the pups.

For once I agree. Make sure it's got live and active cultures in it too.
:yay: :yay: :flowers:
Been there with the black Lab.
I`was also told to put a little metamucil (sp) in it.
Not sure what that does, but I didn't have any.

Yogurt mixed with her food worked.
And she stopped squirting waste around the house.
I felt so bad for her. She actually had no control.

I get my food from Clippers in Solomons. You can also talk to Kate. She's very knowledgeable about nutrition.

Flagyl isn't a dewormer..it's an antibiotic (antibacterial) used to treat bacterial problems like Giardia. It is NOT safe for preggo dogs!!

SOMD, what did you use to deworm her?

That's the same way she is right now. I will try that as soon as I get home. She really tries to hold it and when I hear her at night I let her out but sometimes it's just too late.

Off the top of my head I was thinking it was that yellow stuff. What's that?

I think the Flagyl is for upset stomache.

It began with a M that they gave her, it was yellowish.

No, it is not. It is metronidazole (sp.) and it is an antibiotic. You really shouldn't be treating the symptoms. Take her back to the vet.

I'll take her back. They didn't seem too concerned about it, just thought it was from the transition and the conditions she was in. I guess they figured the worming meds would take care of it.

Did she have worms? What type? I think many vets normally look at the easy things first. But if she's had it a week, I'd insist on them really checking for the coccidia and giardia.

Well she's got an appt at 5:30 today and I will make sure that they check for that if they hadn't already. I want to say whip and one other. The two doses of the dewormer should take care of those.

Whips are really hard to get rid of.

Poor pup, I hope she starts to get better soon.
