Longhorn going North of Texas Roadhouse?

According to the Enterpise there is land north of it where they want to build a Longhorn Steakhouse. Generally I like more restaurants..but how many Texas themed steakhouses does a 5 mile section of highway need? I have no clue why a Longhorn would want to be so close to Texas Roadhouse. No matter where, Texas Roadhouse is always packed. Longhorn on the otherhand is subpar, and never as busy.

I have the site plan for that section of land and there are two buildings planned. One is a restaurant and other is for a other businesses. The restaurant is not specified.

I ate at Longhorn once and enjoyed it. If there was one closer, I'd return. I've also eaten at TR. They're also good, but at the end of the day, they're both affordable steak houses. Now, if we had a Ruth's Chris, how often would you go? At least once a week?

As long as there is a "wait" at restaraunt A, restaraunt B will do well no matter what you name them.

I always considered Longhorn a step above Roadhouse, if there is such a scale...

x10. Paid my first visit to a Texas Roadhouse yesterday, out in Indiana. It was "OK"..but certainly not something that would justify standing in a line for a table. I'm the same with Oive Garden..meh/OK for a chain restaurant. "Predictable" is the word I woul probably use to describe both.

Why either of them down here would be so mobbed leaves me clueless.

Ruth's Chris, on the other hand...The best steak dinner I've ever had from any 'chain' (practically from any restaurant, period) was from there. But it was in New Orleans and I sure wouldn't be paying what it cost to eat there on anything like a regular basis! I've heard that not all Ruths Chris are the same when it comes to quality either..which makes sense.

It's something new. I remember when Taco Bell first opened. The line stretched from the counter through the store and out into the parking lot. Yes, I'm talking about Taco Bell.

At the same time I can eat at Longhorn or TR 3or4 times on the same amount of money spent on one visit to Ruth's Chris steak house, personally once a yr for that dining experience is plenty for me, I'm just a pauper :nomoney:

That's kinda what I said. After eating at the TR yesterday, I would probably head there before going to Outback simply based on my perceptions of prices v. quality (the first a bit lower..the second maybe a bit lower too..but about the same really).

Ruth's on the other hand?..a once a year treat and that's it for me!

So they can have the same meal they have had a hundred times before. Kind of defeats the point of being "new".

Nah, I think I'll drive to Indiana for dinner tonight.

Probably worth the trip if you want to avoid a long wait in line for exactly the same food.

I had never eaten at a TR beofre. Yesterday I did. I now know, with a reasonable degree of certainty, exactly what I would be served if I was willing to compete with the maddening crowds at the new one in California. I'm definitely not willing to do that; the food was nowhere near good enough to justify such silliness and waste of time.

Nothing to see here

Ate at the one in Annapolis last year or year before, service was miserable and the food was so-so, the server's attitude was 'oh well' .. If I am going to spend that kind of money, much rather go to Lewnes'.

They'd probably give my wife the stink eye when she ordered her steak well done. :ohwell:
