Good news

Indy's white blood cell count was up so we got meds for a week. Smaller dosage and every 3rd day instead of every other but I'll take what I can get. He's snoozing in my office waiting to go home now. I need to learn his positive attitude!!

So far he's holding his own. By the time I got the meds into him Monday night another lymph node had started swelling in his neck. As of yesterday that lymph node has gone back down and his facial tumor doesn't look quite as "angry". This boy keeps amazing me. He's so happy and content and he takes all of his meds like a big boy.

We could all take lessons from him...and his great attitude!

Catt, who in Bowie is doing the surgery?

Dr. Stankard is the surgeon. I absolutely love her. She's at Dogs&Cats Veterinary Referral which is where Biscuit's cardiologist is located. His wife, Dr. Arrington, specializes in cancer treatement. EVERYONE at this hospital is very loving and caring toward the animals and they have very good people skills as well. We've been going there for almost 5 years and I feel very comfortable with them treating Biscuit.

Update on Biscuit

Just got word from surgeon...

Biscuit did well but had a few scary moments when his blood pressure dropped (which we knew could happen). He takes atenolol because of his heart problem so his heart rate is lower and his cardiologist didn't want his heart rate to be artificially raised so they had to use different meds that would raise his blood pressure but not elevate his heart rate. He will remain in doggie ICU until tomorrow morning.

They removed the tumor and a 3 cm margin and also removed the lymph node.

I am relieved but will feel so much better when he's home with us.

Thanks for the well-wishes.

Well, Biscuit is home. He's really worn out and on good pain meds..tramadol. He's sound asleep. He can't do much of anything for the next two weeks until the sutures are removed.

I'm glad he's home. Everyone heals better and sleeps better at home. If you need something just give a yell.

Catt - Best wishes on Biscuit's recovery, and Independence, hope Indy is doing well too!

Catt, glad the surgery is over and Biscuit is recovering. Is he still staying quiet? It's hard to keep a boxer down. I'm sorry I've been out of town and haven't checked on things. When do you get the results of the lymph node?
