Actually I get a LOT of looks at my bike. Many times I come out of a grocery store or a shopping center and someone's looking at it, I've even come out of Raley's to see an older gentleman (like 70's) on his hands and knees looking at the engine and drivetrain. I've been in Sheetz and had a father and son out in the parking lot talking it over. Stopped at the light coming out of gate three, and the person beside me rolled down his window and said what a beautiful bike it was. So yeah, I get second looks, discussions in the parking lot, and even strangers approaching me in restaurant's to ask if that's my bike, and we end up talking about riding, the local environment and places to go. So it worked great for me.

But you're right, Harley's do look good.

I don't like chrome. Therefore, there are only a couple Harley's that I think look good.

Funny story from Sturgis...was joking around with one of the guys and he was saying how unique his bike was. Then we walked around the corner of the hotel and there were two more Screamin' Eagle Anniversary editions just like it (except for some minor custom work)! :killingme

I know I shouldn't ask...but what do you ride Bob? I do mean Bike wise... :killingme

I'm on a Harley, cause that is what my Hubby had given the Son, and he'd out grown so I get it now. We've had a lot of different brands and models over the years. Like a lot of kids, the Harley was the Ultimate. So once he could afford it, he fell in love.

I know enough to know that the bidd thing I like about them, is that they keep their value. We are old folk, don't have a lot of chrome, just for the sake of chrome...most of the add-on's are better lights and better horns. That's what he's planning for me now. Lots more lights on the rear and front of the fenders. Warning...Danger...crazy rider! :lmao:

 the only motorcycles i've ever seen "unique" are the rat bikes.

I think I'm more of a BUELL or V-Rod type then a cruiser type. No chrome, and they look like they're all business.

Had this discussion a few weeks ago, friend was talking about trading his Roadster in for a Gold Wing.. I'm not ready for that yet. I maybe old, but I don't feel it. I don't need 150 HP, but I'm not ready for the couch on two wheels either.

That's the difference.. somewhere when we were growing up, something struck us. When everyone else was talking Harley, I kept thinking about BMW. It was my ultimate bike since I was probably 12. Most 12 year olds, their ultimate bike is a Harley, whether it be from TV, Uncle so and so rides one.. don't know, when I was 12 I fell in love with BMW. Most of us carry those first loves into adult hood, and when we finally can afford them we make good on our wants. I got my chance last Spring and bought a 2002 R1150RS.

I think there is research out there about Harleys and BMW's that support the "first love" theory.. both makes, the buyers are in their mid 40's. They can finally afford the bike they always wanted.

I have better brake lights (Hyper-lites) on the back, Moto-Lights on the front, 3M black reflective tape on my side cases that glow bright white at night, and dual FIAMM horns.. I love to ride, but I have a fear of getting rear ended on 235 while waiting to take a left turn. Hyper-Lites work REAL well, or so I've been told, as do the Moto-Lights, though I wouldn't have the Moto-Lights if I hadn't won them ($$$$), but still real happy that I have them, I'm POSITIVE they have saved my butt 3 or 4 times from having someone pull out in front of me.

The first month I owned my bike (sans moto-lights) I got pulled out on twice... Once from a driveway a guy backed out in front of me, and once on St Jermomes Neck at an intersection.. It hasn't happened again since I've added the Moto-Lights, though I've seen people that appear to start pulling out and stop once they see me.

Well we're definately the couch types. Need to be comfy. Between blown discs, and bad knee, H loves his Road King. And the Anniv. Eddition just makes is more special. He's not the type to change out bikes every few years. This should be THE bike for years now. Son just bought a Dyna street BOB from a friend of ours...they take as much of the chrome off as possible and use the rummble black (i think that's what it's called?).

None of the bikes have stock seats, thats the first change. Mustang makes the best seats. Wider for bucket, so I fit well, etc. And I need a back rest. Yep I'm a couch type. And thats fine by me. I like to be comfortable when I ride. That way I can ride longer.

That's why they have so many different brands and styles. To appeal to everyones tastes. It only matters that you ride...not what you ride!
