I'm not averse to "police brutality". Sure, there are cops who lose it and just plain bad cops. But most of the brutality videos that get tossed around, the person who gets their ass kicked had it coming.

There was one on here awhile back where this punk kid literally trolled for a cop to get nasty with him. He parked alone in a dark lot (drug suspect), then when the cop came over to see what he was doing, he started mouthing off and being a jerk. I'm not weeping that that kid got slapped around, or whatever happened to him (don't remember but it was enough to get the hippies in a frenzy). For two cents, I'd have punched him myself.

I have never had a bad experience with a cop because:
  1. I'm not a criminal
  2. I don't hang out with criminals
  3. I'm not a smartass with authority issues
  4. I'm not looking to provoke them
  5. I'm not a kirkout who can't control myself
And that's is pretty much all you need to avoid to unpleasant police encounters.

Truthfully I've never had an issue with them IRL either. The only issue I've had has been here, where I've seen something on a video and a cop shows up and from his response acts like he's seen a completely different video. They further go on to explain how the behavior has to be excused due to the inherent stress that goes along with the job. They will go on further to justify all types of behavior as allowable due to their background (i.e. speeding, running lights, parking in no parking areas).

Something else to keep in mind:

The one video where the crook broke into some old man's house and the cop is whaling on him? She/he is literally beating him into submission. That's not a big cop - the guy on the ground is a larger man, and if he gets up, there's going to be a fight. And you can see that the guy is still trying to get up.

That was the big cry during the Rodney King thing - that the cops used excessive force to subdue him. But apparently they didn't because you can see King (a big guy) still trying to fight them.

Hippie liberals and authority phobes apparently think there should be a fair fight between cops and criminals, like one cop should throw away any weapons and go one on one with the criminal, may the best man win. And that is just ignorant.

You act like every single cop is a thug, based on a few examples. So you can find video and stories about crazy cops - so what? Are they representative of the whole profession?

:yeahthat:

Let's see...

21,000 Police Departments
1.4 Million Violent Crimes Committed
More Than 10 Million Property Crimes
122 Police Officers Are Killed In The Line Of Duty
More Than 57,000 Are Assaulted Annually

Oh yea - let's highlight a few "bad apples."

I like how anyone that gets upset over police abuse is a "hippy".

The reason these stories get highlighted is because, well that is what makes it a story. I don't understand why some get so upset that it gets posted. Then alot of people cry "why don't you ever post the good stuff about cops?"
It is like anything else the most outrageous things are the ones that make the news, doesn't mean that we don't know 99% of cops out there are doing a good job most of the time.

Some of us realize that the face and the role of police has changed in the last 20-30 years (war on drugs and now war on terror) and don't like where it has gone. Too many police think that they are above the law and treat citizens like subjects, that is not to say the majority, just way too many in my book.

Well, I don't like it. I think there should be more cops and less hippies in this world.

You and other cop bashers tar a whole profession based on the acts of a few. Then you make hay out of some 10 second video clip because a reporter has told you what to think. I have no respect for that.

I must say, however, I do enjoy videos where some punk or criminal gives a cop a problem and gets the #### slapped out of them. :yay:

You'd probably do quite well living in a police state since you don't have any problem being told what you can and can't do. I prefer to preserve my rights.

NEWSFLASH:

You do not have the "right" to break the law, provoke the cops, impede a law enforcement situation, or resist arrest. So I'd love to know just what "rights" of yours are being taken away by law enforcement. Care to share with the class which one of the above behaviors you engage in?

And I'll tell you something else: you think the cops are bad, go ahead and hamstring them until citizens are forced to take the law into their own hands. Cause if you think cops are brutal, you just let me lay some justice on your (figurative*) ass and you'll be BEGGING for the cops.

*Meaning, not you personally.

See, this is why you're dumb and I'm smart.

It's not more prevalent - you just hear more about it because of mass communication. There are so many restrictions and reforms in place now that didn't exist in, say, 1920 that cops today are pussycats compared to their ancestors. Cops usta could just beat the hell out of a suspect - ever hear of the legendary rubber hose? And nobody said a word.

It is not just how rough cops are now compared to then.

It is that they are farther and farther from actually following the constitution.

The ATF didn't exist in the 1920's and they are the biggest offenders IMO.

Yeah, because ATF guys are wildcard free agents who take the law into their own hands, have no oversight, and just run amok busting anyone they want.

Keep going - I'm starting to become entertained.

I'd have to find a statistic, but I'd bet money that crime has risen in direct proportion to restrictions placed on law enforcement.

Maybe you just like crime and dip####s who don't know how to act in public.
