Pitt Bull Attack - 5 dead including 3 kids

Lacie Girl

My BFF is a Pit Bull!
The collar slipped over their eyes and they tripped - over a pit bull!
:lmao:

Are all the reports wrong about Pits? They can't be, Pits are bred to attack other dogs (or small animals), it's in their genetic makeup.

Your, right Smilin. Not all the reports are wrong about Pit bulls. Unfortunately, they are very over bred right now. So there is a very high population of them. Their bite ratio to their population size is about the same as all other breeds though.

Pits are in the spotlight right now, so their bites tend to get reported more then other dogs. Also, being a larger breed they do more damage then your smaller breeds. A lot of times when someone gets bitten by a small dog, they treat the bite at home and never report it. This is why bite "statistics" are so inaccurate.

Many breeds are also commonly mislabeled at Pit bulls. Here is a great website to check out. See if you can properly identify the Pit bull on the first try (or see how many tries it takes you). Find the Pit bull. I think you will find it to be quite the eye opener and give you an understanding of how easy it is to misidentify a breed.

They call me ... Sarcasmo
In a news report maybe, but your average everyday person tends to use the word "kids", not "children". So no, I doubt it would have said children.
I think you are underestimating people, also, it wouldn't be in the "dogs" section. You're willing to jump to conclusions about people's word choices much like some are willing to jump to conclusions about dog behavior.

The owner is responsible the dog doesnt know anybetter. Put up an electric fence if your worried. The owner will most likely not be responsible and that sucks but you then have to be responsible.

Did you not read the part where Sonsie stated that the dog had "dug under the fence" to get to the goats?

Why should she have to put out money to keep someone else's dog(s) out of here yard?

Oh yes, the owner will be held responsible especially if there is any kind of leash law and I'm pretty sure that there are laws down there that are especially protective of livestock.

I read the post thank you, but you can run a wire closer to the ground he/she will get a nice little jolt on their butts. Pits are not that small. I agree its not fair to have to shell out money for someone else's irresponsibility but sometimes you just need to protect yourself and your animals. In florida we did that to keep gators out of all things.

You mean right now like the last 15 years right now??

Why do you pit bull lovers get all defensive and ignorant anytime anyone reports a dog attack that involves a pit bull?

If she had reported 5 goats killed by a St Bernard (and I'm sure she WOULD have reported it in spite of the fact it wasn't a pit bull). Would you have been as upset at her report?

She reported the facts, it was a pit bull according to her report.. no amount of defending the breed will change that fact.

I would aslo think that the pit bull did in fact kill the goats for 'fun' as there is no mention of the goats having been eaten, and in fact I don't believe a pit Bull could eat 5 goats at one sitting.

AND speak of ignorance, when you talk of a hunter that kills a deer to place it's head on the wall, did you ever stop to think what happened to the rest of the deer? He didn't do it for the head, or the joy of killing or the blood sport. The heads on the wall, the rest of it's in the refridgerator. I don't know any hunters personally, that would chop the head off of a deer and leave the rest in the woods. Your argument is lacking when you insult a group of people to defend an animal.

typical of an ignorant pit owner, they deny the dangers instead of accepting their responsibility.

I had a brindle staffordshire and while he was a very sweet dog, i knew that at any moment he could cause a tragedy.
Additionaly i have been on the tight end of the leash when the pit i was walking or in charge of "went off" luckily in both of those incidents the dog was on a leash and I was paying attention, and i had the strength to pull them apart. Never again in my house.

I'm so annoyed with these preachy tw@ts that I'm now going to make it my mission to post every pit bull attack story I run across. Frankly I really don't care for dogs all that much in general, I'm more of a cat person. I distrust all large breeds that are known for aggression, it's common sense to keep a wary eye and some distance from anything that can kill you on a whim.

Somebody will just come and and say "how do they know it was a pit bull and not some other breed" blahblahblah, and post a link to a web site that shows 50 pics of different types of dogs.

See, that's the thing that these pitbull deniers fail to recognize. "Ooh! Ooh! But a chihuahua can bite you just as well!"

Yeah, but a chihuahua isn't going to kill you if it attacks.

Sure Malice and V2, I always welcome additional friends!

Let me offer a bit of advice:

Buy a shotgun, it's much easier to hit something moving. A rifle may just hit something beyond whatever you are shooting at (such as your neighbor, or their house - you get the point). They also are the most versatile firearm you can get IE: hunting, pests (other than the stray murderous attack by a dog).

You can also get something called Glaser (Sp?) ammunition for a handgun. It is like a shotgun shell for handguns.

Lastly, check in to the legality of killing a dog on your own property. Calvert has a law that makes it illegal to kill stray dogs.

Or check my avatar out, behind those steely sunglasses is a Boxer with a huge heart and a fierce desire to protect her two cats, two kids and me.
They are wonderful dogs that may not beat up a Pit Bull, but at least will let you know if ANYTHING is trespassing on your property. They are also big clowns.

I woodn't be so sure about that. I have a cousin Merle who was attacked by a Cha wawa named Goucho. He didn't die but it gnawed off the pinky finger on his left hand and bit him in the privates. Momma Rugg says them Cha wawa's are just rats with bigger ears with a nasty disposition cause they are Mexican and real nervous all the time. Every Cha wawa I ever saw did tremble a lot but I never figured they was violent.

Merle was over at the trailer park changin the starter selanoid on a Buick for a friend and he was laying on the ground trying to get the bolts out. the lady 2 trailers down used to let her viscious dog out to go to the bathroom and it wandered over to where Merle was workin. Well Merle was tryin to reach a bolt and swung his leg and musta scared the poor shakey dog and it attacked him and bit him right in a fleshy area i don't care to describe. When the dog bit him it startled Merle and he instinctively tried to sit up to see what was latched onto his ....private area. In doin that he whacked his head on the drive shaft and knocked himself clean out while he was grabbing his private area with his left hand.

We figure that is when the Cha wawa gnawed off his finger. Now if it was a regular man size pinky I might could understand but see Merle is a mechanic and he has pretty muscled up hands so his pinky is about the size of a regular persons thumb. Lucky for Merle he don't use his pinky for much. Its way too big to fit in his nose or ear so he don't miss it much. Of course gettin you finger gnawed off by a Cha wawa is embarassin so whenever he gets asked he says it was a industrial accident. We all know but we don't say nothin.

I just want to say being a dog and a Goat owner that sonsie im so very sorry for what you and the owners of the goats had to go thru. What the title of the thread was YES caught my attention-- only because of the 5 dead 3 kids-- I would have read no matter what kind of dog it was--- I think like most the others said a shotgun is indeed something worth having and using WHEN it comes back(cuz any dog that tastes blood will want more). I have Jack russells and i also have a rottie shepard mix and I know they are all as easily to do the same thing that the Pit did- Any dog will but its the dog owners fault 100% -They should have had it leashed or fenced - I NEVER leave my dogs outside without me there to watch them. It angers me when someone elses animal be it cat dog or whatever come in my yard --- Just shows me they dont care enough for their animal to keep it safe. Again I'm sorry :(
Here are my babies(2 months old) I have 6 goats total and would be extremely devistated if this happen to them via a ####zu or a pit or a rottie-- What ever

FOR STARTERS...... SONSIE...................
IT WAS WRONG OF YOU TO HAVE MISLEAD PEOPLE WITH THE TITLE OF YOUR THREAD.
YOU HAVE MADE PEOPLE THINK IT WAS CHILDREN THAT WERE KILLED WHEN IN FACT IT WAS GOATS. YES THEY TOO ARE CALLED "KIDS" BUT THRU MOST OF YOUR THREAD YOU REFER TO THEM GOATS ...ITS NOT TILL THE LAST SENTENCE YOU REFER BACK TO THEM AS "KIDS".

What you have started is another "BASH PIT BULLS" thread and managed to get everyone stirred up even more with your title!

dogs by nature are prey driven animals.... their ancestors killed to survive. Yes...no dog kept as a family pets should kill livestock.... but there are several breeds of dogs that hunt and kill rabbits, squirrels, and other rodents.

SO MY QUESTION TO EVERYONE IS...............

IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE PIT BULL BREED THAT KILLED THE GOATS?
OR
IS IT IN GENERAL THE GOATS WERE KILLED BY A DOG?

SONSIE.....
WOULD YOU STILL HAVE WRITTEN THIS ARTICLE IF IT HAPPENED TO BE YOUR DOG THAT KILLED THEM? (LETS JUST SAY IF YOU OWNED A DOG) (PROBABLY NOT!)

WOULD YOU STILL HAVE WRITTEN THIS ARTICLE IF IT HAPPENED TO BE A LABRADOR RETRIEVER THAT HAD KILLED THEM? (PROBABLY NOT!)

TO EVERYONE THAT IS ALL FOR KILLING THE DOG BY SHOOTING IT OR BY POISONING IT..... JUST THINK ABOUT THIS:
HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF IT WAS YOUR DOG THAT SOMEONE IS GOING TO KILL?

THE PROBLEM STARTS WITH THE OWNERS LETTING THEIR DOGS RUN AT LARGE!

I cant wait till LACIEGIRL get to see this post!!

Thanks COWGIRL for seeing it the right way.. even if you dont like the breed

I AM A PROUD PITBULL OWNER...AND NOT EVERY PIT IS DANGEROUS...YOU KNOW WHAT I USED TO OWN 4 PITBULLS AND 1 MIN PIN---DID YOU KNOW THAT THE MIN PIN TRIED TO BITE MY CHILDREN...PIT BULLS ARE AMAZING ANIMALS...WITH ALL DOGS IT IS ALL IN HOW YOU RAISE THEM...YOU CAN MAKE A LAB VICIOUS, YOU CAN MAKE A ROT VICIOUS, YOU CAN MAKE A PIT VICIOUS, PUGS, EVERYTHING...AND HONESTLY LIKE THE QUOTE ABOVE SAYS---I ONLY CLICKED ON THIS THREAD BECAUSE IT SAID PIT BULL...MY CHILDREN ARE VERY PROTECTED AS WELL AS MY HOUSE...THERE WAS ANOTHER POST THAT SAID THAT MORONS ARE THE PIT OWNERS WHO LET THEIR KIDS CLIMB ALL OVER THE DOG, ETC ETC...THAT THOSE MORONS ARE THE ONES WHO WOULD LET THEIR PIT LOOSE---I AM NOT SAYING THAT I WOULD LET MY PITS LOOSE, BUT I KNOW THAT IF I DID I WOULD NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS...I AM SOOOOOOOOO SICK OF EVERYONE BASHING PITBULLS AND PITBULL OWNERS...I AM A PROUD PITBULL OWNER AND A PROUD PITBULL BREEDER. YOU SHOULD PUNISH THE DEED THAT ANY DOG DOES---NOT THE BREED!!! AND THE PEOPLE WHO THINK THAT ALL PIT BULLS ARE BAD AND DANGEROUS, OR THAT ANY BULLY DOG IS BAD AND DANGEROUS THEN YOU ARE THE MORON!!!
