I don't feel sad for the owners - it's their fault.

The dog is just a stupid animal - it's the responsibility of the owner to know the dog and contain it accordingly. You can't blame the kid - it's just a little kid and they don't know any better.

For dog owners to try and blame a small child for getting bitten is just wrong and irresponsible.

If the dog is a biter, any dog that is regardless of breed, it should be put down. There are plenty of nice loving dogs sitting in shelters being killed daily due to over population to tolerate aggresive dogs. I can talk the talk because I personally had to walk down the road....
THANK YOU!!!

I thought I was crazy for a few minutes.....

Honey, I've watched the dog whisperer but I have enough common sense to realize that I'm not him. :lmao: I also don't have a problem dog and don't take on the attitude of most Pit Bull advocates. If the dog is a biter, any dog that is regardless of breed, it should be put down. There are plenty of nice loving dogs sitting in shelters being killed daily due to over population to tolerate aggresive dogs. I don't think I am him. He shows ways to train a dog. Those ways have worked on my three dogs. You have to want to change a biting dog for it to work, if you give up before you try it won't work. All my dogs are rescues that needed work and help, I like trying his methods and I am thrilled with the results. When kids are involved I totally agree that a biter has to be sent to a new home or put down. No dog is more important than a kid.

You're kidding me.

I was completely unaware a boat or a car could just jump up and attack someone all by itself, causing bodily harm or even death. Next time you see this happen, please get video.

And you call Masey a boob... :eyebrow:

But you've seen people kids do exactly that right? :)

With respect to cars and boats, they are both property that people use/own irresponsibly with MUCH greater damage than dogs.

And for the record, both Audi and Saab have issued recalls in the past for cars that would surge while in gear at a stop light or stop sign causing accidents. At least one of which (Audi if I recall correctly) was fatal. Audi also had an issue with a faulty transmission shift linkage that would allow the transmission to shift from neutral into a drive gear without input from a driver that caused cars to leap into motion all by themselves as well.

While these incidents are hardly comparable to dog ownership (where owners can reasonable be expected to have some control/responsibility.) They are examples of cars and boats "jump(ing) up and attack someone all by itself, causing bodily harm or even death"

But getting back to the topic at hand, more comparable examples would include:

Boats have steering and throttle failures often enough that google has several videos of boating accidents that were caused by mechanical failure.

About six years ago (give or take) I saw a car being worked on in the pit area of MIR leap off of jackstands and crash into two other race cars before it stopped. Nobody in the drivers seat there either.

Both of these are examples owners who should have been responsible enough to maintain there property in working condition (in the case of the boat) and/or made better decisions with regard to there approach to safety.

Are accidents like this cause to eliminate all boats and cars from public posession? Of course not, you know that. In the grand scheme of things, dog bites are an incredibly minor thing to go getting all :jameo: over.

I don't subscribe to kneejerk emotional alarmist attitudes and find people who DO incredibly amusing. So yes, I called Masey a boob.

On the up side, I GOT MY FIRST RED KARMA TODAY!!! :larry: :cartwheel   I'm finally one of the in crowd!

And, if the owner knows that the vehicle has this problem, do you think they should fix it or get rid of the car? Or is it some pedestrian's fault for walking in front of a car that surges on its own?

My opinion for the cars/boats is the same as it is for the dogs. It should be fixed or eliminated. It is not the fault of onlookers or pedestrians, nor in the case of the dog, the fault of the child.

I can't see how any of my posts could be misconstrued as to support the opinion that the child was at fault. My amusement was with Masey's :jameo: Pitbulls are evil :jameo: response.

I used to train dogs. Basic and open obedience, tracking, agility, party tricks, and Schutzhund. I still have the majority of my training equipment.

I've SEEN golden retreivers do credible bite work on a sleeve. I've SEEN labs that would tear the hand off of anyone but their owner. I've SEEN toddlers stuffing GI Joe action figures into a Rottweilers ear (4 in one ear as a matter of fact) with no reaction from the dog what so ever.

There have been alot of "fluff" studies done on bitework but some very respectable ones as well. The long and short of it is, the environment and training (whether purposeful or unconciously by the owner) the dog is subjected to is the dominating factor in whether a dog is, or will be, a biter.

There will never ever be a dog like Pal. I have no doubt he'd bite if provoked. He's mental like that, but there is no way I could have him put to sleep. :smack:
