BTW I've been in the navy for 14 years now and I had no problems with attacking Afghanistan but Iraq was VERY questionable.

So the U.S. is at least partially responsible for what has happened in those countries.
Hello? Hindsight is always 20/20. At the time, Iran and the Russians were a large threat. I don't think Carter and Reagan realized they were aiding future terrorists or they wouldn't have done it.

Anyway, my original statement was that I could give a crap if terrorists have to wear panties on their head or get hooked up to fake electrodes. If they hadn't been terrorists, it wouldn't have happened to them. So it's their own fault. If one of them had actually been injured...

...I STILL wouldn't give a crap.

When I was in the Navy, Iraq fired a missile at my ship and missed it by 1 mile (purty darn close in the big scheme of things), and the Saudis held me at gunpoint for 3 hours, along with all the other Americans, while we awaited our Pan Am flight to the States. They also stole my seabag and all my uniforms (cost of replacement, $1,000 out of MY pocket). After that experience, and getting ripped off in Bahrain, how do you think I feel about these people? I don't care who did what to whom in the past, any of them that would dare say or do anything agains the U.S. is worthy of only one fate, in my eyes. A very fast forwarding to the eternal punishment that awaits them.

I said partially. Just because we have no idea what the consequences will be doesn't makes us not responsible for our actions.

Responsibility acknowledged. It shouldn't change our current policy. Just as with creating Frankenstein, we now have to destroy the creation run amok.

I am not really disagreeing with that, just how we do it, since this will likely affect future policies. Both ours and theirs. Even if we don't care about the Arabs and Muslims we should care how they will react later to us. Do we want to prolong the hostilities by doing something stupid like putting a leash on a naked man? Is it accomplishing anything positive?

Hard choices to make, not matter what we do, eh? Like walking through a mine field that has all delayed-reaction fuses. From our end, the best we can do (IMHO) is to clean up the mess and not leave anything undone (contrary to Desert Storm, where we should have finished the job we began, right then and there).

Lots of us from Iran-Iraq war days had enough frustration built up to want a Nuclear solution. I'm glad I woke up from that line of thinking, but we ALL - from the elite officers to the lowest grunt in the bilges, wanted somebody to see what we were up against and do something about it. I can remember cruising around and getting the dead, burnt bodies off of tankers and putting them in our meat lockers - the sight of ships hit just in their white superstructures, where everyone lived - and died.

Problem with the mistreatment of the prisoners is that instead of walking into and walking out of that minefield we are walking into the minefield and playing football. Now we have more mines that are going to go off in the future.

:bs: I don't think the panty on the head incident made much of a difference in how Al Quaida operates. We could be housing their prisoners at Club Med and hand feeding them expensive caviar and they'd STILL commence with torturing and beheading.

It's not going to affect how Al-Qaeda is going to operate but it sure is a great recruitment drive for them and the other groups into recruiting people who were not so radical.

I get it. Because now they realize that, if they get captured, they get to wear women's panties on their head. Good one! We should use that to recruit over here - shoot, we'd never see FDdog again (depending on whose panties they were).

I don't even begin to comprehend how some of you think that England did nothing wrong!
(posing for training) :bs:
(what she did was harmless) :bs:
Have any of you ever heard of the geneva convention???
Prisoner rights?
Human dignity?

now before you chime in with your ignorant response, realize that i accept that the majority of the prisoners are skum that helped plot attacks on the U.S.
HOWEVER!!!!!!
A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF PRISONERS WERE CAPTURED JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME!
"for those of you that don't understand.......that means they were innocent"
I'm not real sure ifall of you know the whole truth about the happenings at the detention center....but panties on the head and such is just the tip of the iceberg...
-prisoners forced to preform oral sex with eachother-
-prisoners forced to have sex with each other-
-prisoners admitted to the medical facilities because they were bleeding fron their rectum (later investigation found that they were sodomized with broom and mop handles-
-prisoners forced to eat and drink eachothers semen/urine/feces-

(but it's ok.......it was done for training)

The ignorance is held by you Bucko. It was in testimony at the sentencing hearing where the statement concerning her posing for the pictures as being for training came up. It's the reason the judge set aside her guilty plea when he declared a mistrial.

And what she did was harmless, save the pictures finding their way into the media, unless of course you have proof that she participated in your other allegations.

Is it? Like he stated a lot of those people were just in the wrong place at the wrong time or POed the wrong people and got fingers pointed at them. These people may have hated Saddam and was happy to see him go but unfortunately a Saddam supporter may have found out. The Saddam supporter could have got several of his buddies to point out the poor guy saying that he was an insurgent. Now the poor guy is in prison, confused how he ended up there. Then he gets stripped naked and have pictures taken in humiliating positions. How do you think he may feel about Americans then?
