Anyway, I think I can get a consensus from smokers that the ban hasn't really affected us in the slightest. Right? I know I personally don't go out as much as I did, but that's not a bad thing - I'm saving money. And nobody *has* to go out, so what's the big deal? (Except for non-smokers, of course - they MUST go out and blow around freely, unencumbered by annoyances.)

The big concern is, and should be, that the government has encroached on private business to force its will. THAT should concern all of us, and the fact that some are quite willing to have government dictate to private business is very frightening. But it's just more of the sheeple Socialist brainwashing that's going on in this country.

"Help me, Big Daddy Government! Save me! :jameo:"

Maybe next the MD legislature will make a law that says all Marylanders MUST dine out x-number of times per week to keep the restaurants afloat.

I rarely visit any of them.

If I do, it'll be carry out. Saves me 20% right off the top not having to tip.

Last week I hung out off the back deck and filled the air with, noise, beer and the smoke from my grill and a friends cigarettes.

They didn't serve socialization, either.

You may notice that I normally don't respond to your silliness, even if I accidentally read it by mistake. However, many bars used to sell cigarettes and cigars. And they also had ashtrays, so one can assume that the bar was for smoking as well as drinking and socializing.

Back to zen you go. Don't bother responding to me - I won't read it. :coffee:

just go smoke until you cant anymore

The hell...

show me a study that shows its not the same smoke.....

and larry, it does get diluted, but a longer expouser at a lesser level is not that much different.

...it's not.

The diffusion from inhaling 'second' hand smoke vs. taking a drag is profoundly different by an order of magnitude. Don't believe me? Next time you're trying to kill a wasp, don't spray at him; just shoot some in the room every once in awhile and open and close the windows and doors repeatedly. See how it affects him. He'll die of old age or the cold will get him.

now try your same experiment with fifty people spraying every 20 seconds until the room is so thick with spray you can see it........

then keep having them spray just to keep up the fog......

...you one better; In my world there is a concept known as resistance. When I don't apply the proper amount of pesticide or fungicide at the proper time and conditions, bugs develop resistance. Bugs will survive and pass on survivability over chemicals that would have nearly killed them had I done my job correctly.

Compare that to cigarettes which have NEVER killed anyone as properly used. They will wear your body out sooner than otherwise. They will likely lead you to lung and heart disease, bad skin, bad hair, bad breathe and other problems, but, the exposure levels are such that what all of this boils down to is government intervention over something that is annoying, but pretty much harmless, to people.

...you're right; if we sprayed INSECTICIDE by 50 people every 20 seconds that could pose some problems. Cigarettes, not so much. We've seen it. Billions of time over 100's of years.

how can something that causes heart and lung disease be harmless?
(it says right on the pack that they do)

Smoking weakens your immune system

That explains why I get sick all the time.

That's sarcasm, because I haven't even had a cold in years. My Mom was never sick until she quit smoking - then she had sinus crap and colds all the time. so I think your statement is crap.

I'm not talking about annual/bi-annual colds. I'm referring to suspectibility to COPD, bronchitis, and heart disease. Just because you aren't sniffling, doesn't mean you are healthy.
