Smoking crisis...

Or perhaps...

Once again, perhaps it was a slow nite at the bar...assessing the entire activity of a bar by one singular visit, then assuming it has something to do with the ban of smoking is asinine.

Perhaps it was a slow nite....or perhaps the fact that gas is pushing $4 a gallon has weened people off from spending nights out at happy hour blowing there money on beer that they could get for a fifth the price and drink in the comfort of their home.

...it's because smokers, who used to go to BARS have decided to just stay home? Half the people who were at the bar kept going out to smoke. Imagine how annoying it would be if everytime you wanted a beer you had to go out in the parking lot and drink it and then come back inside.

Perhaps, and that very well could be the reason...but its rather asinine to assume something and blame something without evidence.

Now whose the Nazi?

Good point...

I think, you are attempting to reconcile with bringing up memories between you and Vrai.

I don't care at all if people smoke in bars or restaurants, especially, as you pointed out, at Dave's which has basically an entire sealed off room for the bar. I'm just saying don't be an idiot and assess something from one experience and attribute it to the smoking ban.

...just wait until I go back to Victoria's Secret...ah, the memories...

I went to a place I know, over time and make a comment about the obvious change. You take issue, not knowing the place, not knowing the history and my observation can't be correct? Who is an idiot? :lmao:

Now whose the Nazi?

...why do you feel so strongly compelled to take issue with this? How does it threaten you?

Again, Larry and I have been to Dave's any number of times over the past 7 or 8 years. We're a solid and recognizable name on the NTN leader board. Weeknights, weekends - we've clocked many an evening there.

And it's unusual, extremely so, for the bar to not be packed.

perhaps the fact that gas is pushing $4 a gallon has weened people off from spending nights out at happy hour blowing there money on beer that they could get for a fifth the price and drink in the comfort of their home.

Historically, a poor economy has never affected the entertainment industry. If anything, people will scrimp on something else so they can afford to go out and have fun.

No...you go to a place you know over time and make a comment about one visit. Without considering any other possibilities. If you notice...a lot of people aren't going out and blowing money left and right because money is tight for a lot of people with the increase in gas, food, etc.

I'm not saying your observations aren't correct. I'm saying its asinine to assume your correct.

That's an...

I think the same could be asked of you .... I mean aside from being able to get a better seat hehe

...interesting take. I make a comment about an observation and I am threatened? Do you know me at all? I don't even smoke. The point is that people's desires to control others has consequences.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I would take Larry's word for it as he has been frequenting the bar for 10 years. If he says its from the smoking ban I'd believe his assessment. I have no clue about this bar, let alone its patronage or lack thereof, I'm sure Larry would be the better judge of things. What makes you sure that its NOT because of the smoking ban  :huggy:

Man, you are REALLY invested in the smoking ban, aren't you? It must be extremely important to you that the ban be beneficial to businesses and they not lose money. Are you on the MD legislature?

...because you've done an exhaustive study on lots of people and lots of people over time, correct? Or, is that just an observation?

I wasn't saying the 'threatened' part I was talking about the 'take issue' part.

I should have been clearer.

I don't feel strongly about it. I couldn't care less. I'm having a conversation about something.

So far there are four things that have been pointed out.

1) Smoking ban
2) High prices
3) Rain
4) Out of the blue slow nite

Perhaps....it was some combination of all four that caused the lull in the nite?

My question is for you is....why do you feel so strongly that the sole cause of the lack of patrons on the singular nite you went to the bar, even when the waitress told you you were incorrect, was the smoking ban?

...taken issue with anything. I made a comment about something I know a little something about. That bothers folks. THAT is interesting.
