SMOW or Snow for 1/6?

North Beach is at 9 1/2 average from several readings in the yard (trees catching some, etc.).

I am pleased that my new greenhouse appears to have handled the snow well, the 50mph winds played Hell with it last week.

Oldest tested his luck and lost. Slid his vehicle into a ditch and had to be pulled out. Husband and I had no idea he was even gone because he had left his phone here. Luckily a Good Samaritan stopped and helped. He learned his lesson and will staying put the rest of the day.

We got about 8 inches here (Lusby) but could be more. Checked earlier and it was 7.5 but that was with a few hours more to go of the storm.

So does this snow melt on us soon?
Well, there is no ground frost to speak of...so melting will come in two directions in the next 4 days.
Problem?...Daytime temps will not broach 40 degrees and nights in mid 20's...so melting will need over a week.
Plan B?...potential of a few more inches by Saturday: Forecast not firmed up yet.

Dang, might have to send wifey out there to shovel the snow after all.

Just sneakin' around....
While I absolutely agree that practicing in the snow in a parking lot or empty street somewhere is the best method of learning to control your vehicle, the police may have other opinions about it's legality. Don't be surprised if you get stopped. Find the most out-of-the-way place you can.

Measured around a few places, between 7 and 8", but also lost at least an inch when it was raining.

Road trucks came thru and clogged by driveway again while I was napping, so hoping it isn't frozen yet.

Got the road berm cleared on mine and the neighbor's driveway, an saw another neighbor struggling with the wet snow. Gave him an assist too. It hadn't frozen yet, but the slush in the driveway had, and the road itself was turning into black ice.
