Hi guys, I'm new here. I have not read all 6 pages here, but here's what is in my driveway/ garage:

1995 Saturn ( beater car )
2004 Explorer (everything but leather in it:biggrin: )
2001 Crown Vic ( free car from work)

and last but not least:

1993 Mustang LX 5.0
This is my weekend driver/ show car. Never leaves the garage in rain or snow.
See my sig for what's in it. No real flashy body work or anything, nice plain red, stock body panels, not even any tint, though it does have chrome wheels from a 2003 Cobra. And while it is loud, a lawnmower or dirtbike is the last thing you'd think of when you hear it. Supercharger is SOOOOON to come!

Ok car people explain this one

Before I wrecked my car I was getting really crappy gas mileage. The gas light would come on at about 310-315 miles. Fill her up 15-16 gallons of gas and repeat.

Since I've had it back my gas light doesn't even come on until 370 or so miles. This is NUTS! That's a considerable difference and I havent' lost any power at all.

The air filter wasn't the replacable kind to begin with. I've got a high flow intake. When I first took the stock intake off and put on the aftermarket one I got a little better gas mileage (bout 10 per tank).

There was a lot of work under the hood. The radiator was replaced as well as most of the a/c system. But I wasn't even running the a/c when it went into the shop (Feb) so it shouldn't have been that.

Driving more carefully I'll give you. I had the car all last spring and summer and didn't get gas mileage like this. I don't think that driving style difference would account for aprox. 60 miles per tank. I wasn't that lead footed before.

Sounds to me like they put your car back together "more efficiently", making it lighter. Did ya see a pile of parts of similar color laying in the corner when you picked up the car? Maybe on a table with a couple of mechanics looking them over while scratching their heads?

Any idea as to what you gas milage is? Fill the tank and reset the trip odometer. Drive, refill and divide the miles by gallons and you'll get mpg instead of an approximate miles per tank.

Did the fixit shop replace the gas tank? Could be the tank sensor was bad to begin with.

Cars should actually get better milage in the winter, because the colder, denser air lets the feul burn more efficiently in the combustion chamber. That's why your car usually will go faster in 65 degree weather than in 85.

I have alot of work done to my car, just put a whole new interior in it last November, LOTS of suspension work, ect. I am not ever going to make it into a race car, no cage, ect., I just like to have fun driving around. DOn't like beating on it though, tickets suck, and my car is pretty nice, I don't wanna destroy it.

I do plan on going to the track this weekend though. Gotta see what the new motor will do.

With the old motor the car went 13.0 @ 105 at MIR. I am looking for high 11's this time.

Wish I could post a pic of it here, but don't have any hosted.

Thanks for the comments.
