I got a rack of ribs to smoke and 6 boxes of snakes to light off!
The weather here (I'm here, you're there) has been bipolar. Bright and sunny, gorgeous, then the heavens open up and unleash the wrath of God on an unsuspecting populace. An hour later it's bright, sunny, and gorgeous again. It's been doing that for a couple of weeks now.
I see on FB the Marylanders talking about how hot it is there. Here it's quite pleasant. Temps in the mid-90s with a lovely Gulf breeze.
Maybe her crystal ball was just smudged up a bit....
Got to brag on my son...he's busted his butt to get the boat I gave him, not only to get it in live-aboard shape (its his home), but shipshape and underway with friends on board today. All in the space of less than a year. Several of the guys in this pic turned to and really helped with the labor when needed...so I'm happy to see all of them enjoying a weekend on the water with the old girl. It's a 41' Hatteras convertible sport fisher..a true classic.

No, but lots of deer and rabbits. Easy to bring fleas in after working in the yard or cutting grass.

Got all the veggies for relish ground and soaking in brine. My house smells bad! Trying to get some house work done while it's soaking. Think we're going to end up staying home tonight and eating leftover meatloaf. We know how to party in this house!

Watched a friend's show over the beautiful Canoe Neck Creek. He dropped about $7k on mortars and repeaters, if I had to estimate. It topped last year's show that set him back around $5.5k. There must've been a dozen boats anchored for the show. It's like a 20 minute grand finale all provided by a guy with an obsession and a propane torch in his hand.
Poor Apollo - he hates Fourth of July more than anything. I had to shut him up in the bathroom while I was gone so he'd feel secure and cocooned.
Anyway, the fireworks were spectacular and the band was top notch. Happy birthday, America!

Grilled some beautiful steaks and watched fireworks from home. Son brought a bunch of friends to watch from the pier. Great to see so many happy people. My neighbors had an impressive fireworks show as well.

I thought my little Flea would be terrified of the fireworks but he did really well. Five pounds with the heart of a lion...
