I so agree with that statement! I cannot stand the ones that talk to each other on and on while they are working out. Saying hi for a minute or two is one thing, but your ENTIRE workout talking? You cannot work out if you are talking, at least I cannot. I run and usually do something on the bike or arc trainer, it messes up my breathing and time if I talk more than a minute. AND it makes me have to turn up my iPod. I don't like to have to do that, but I do it daily.

there seriously needs to be a cell phone ban in the gym...they are doing it other places why not there? It is increasingly getting worse..and I'm sick and tired of having people all around me talk on the phone while they are doing cardio. It is starting to drive me insane...if you can have a conversation on the phone...you obviously aren't working hard enough.

World Gym in Leonardtown has a "No CellPhone" rule for the weightroom and cardio areas. I have seen it enforced. I see folks taking there calls in the lobby area or outside. Kinda like cigarette smokers! :lmao:

This is a great rule on many levels. Most of all being courtesy shown to other gym members.

Dude......WG in LP has the same policy...with the same signs on the wall....it also says no jeans, but every night there are clowns walking around in jeans...that doesn't bother me as much as the phone....especially since i used to like to lift in flip flops sometimes, but yeah....the whole cell phone thing is driving me crazy...when i'm off in my own corner doing work and i can hear some idiot on the other side of the room talking on the phone (not a small floor plan) there is something wrong...

Don't get me wrong...if it's an emergency situation, kid is sick, whatever...i mean using common sense there are times where it is ideal to have your phone...but when every other sentence is, "Girl, you wouldn't believe what i heard."....that like you said is just disrespectful...

But, texting (with the phone on vibe) is OK while doing cardio on the bike... right...???

:lmao: i'm sure the only people who think that is the same thing are the ones standing in between the dumbells and benches yapping about what they heard at work today....

i'm going to side with common sense and say that it's gtg because no one else is being included in your conversation.....last year, when the Indians actually mattered, i left my phone open on gamecast in front of me on the cardio equipment....sure i would swear at my phone from time to time, but it never made any noise....

Hmmm...

I just send out mass-text messages when I'm doing cardio... usually something like "You know what time it is... I need your attention for the next 20-30 mins so I can get through my cardio."

Well, I left Pro Fitness in search of greener pastures. I'll make a long story short. World Gym in Leonardtown is way closer to where I live and I am also paying less per month for my wife and I.

I am returning to a gym that I helped open in 2000. I left in 2003. Much of the same nice equipment and some great additions. I was told so many BS stories about World Gym since John Parker took over. Like not being able to do any type of deadlifting, dumbbells not going up past 80lbs, no chalk, no grunting, and other BS. Not true at all. I cannot believe I fell for the load of crap.

I have only been back 2 weeks. My training is going very well. The atmosphere is quiet and reserved but everyone has been friendly. Nice to see some of the old faces and regulars. I have been asked if I am working there again. lol

A couple of days ago, I witnessed something beyond my comprehension. Something so wildly funny that I must share.

A dude came in sporting a very thick hoodie sweatshirt. He hopped up on an elliptical, pulled the hood up, and yanked the drawstrings tight. Thus closing the hood over his face. Only his nose was visible!

Now I am not stupid. I understand that boxers and mma guys pull up there hoods on their sweatshirts while training to sweat more. And to also get themselves in a "hardcore" zone so-to-say. But nothing like this.

This dude proceded to train with this setup in the weightroom also!! He was doing some weird grunting/breathing/wheezing crap too. I almost lost it! :lmao:

Anyhow, good times...............

I have no problems now that they have finally done the renovations they promised when John first took over. But allot of people did leave during the process of the renovations. I do think it took to long for the bathrooms to be completed.

There are a few other people who left when one of the trainers left.

They should also have a policy that women are not allowed to wear just a sports bar to work out in. They need to be wearing a shirt.

I hope to fit into them one day though. Shouldn't that at least count for something? :bawl:

I wouldn't mind if you walked around in some shorty shorts and a sports bra! :hot:

I guess I should of said clothes that don't cover what's hanging out. They don't need to be showing off what McD's gave um.

I see nothing wrong with people talking to each other at the gym. Really, can you imagine what the gym would be like if people just said hi.. and thats it. People have diffrent goals/habbits when they work out. If you work out with a partner.. it only makes sense that you talk to them while working out/in between sets. Trainers talk to their clients. The gym isnt just a place to go, workout, and leave. I look forward to seeing friends/other members at the gym and talking for a few minutes.

The cell phone use doesnt bother me either. I listen to an Ipod so I cant hear them anyways.

If I run with a friend, cycle with a friend, or even eliptical with a friend I will talk.. i find that it can actually help with my breathing (when I think about breathing thats when I mess up, when I am talking and not thinking about it time flies). It doesnt mean I am not working hard enough. Dont get me wrong, if I am sprinting at 9.0 I am not going to talk.

we were talking about cell phone use...it doesn't annoy you, but it annoys the vast majority of us..take it outside, it is common courtesy not only in the gym, but in a public setting...You don't answer your cell phone and start yapping on a personal call in the middle of a group of people, you excuse yourself, walk away, and then come back to the group..it's not different in the gym...to yap on your phone in the middle of a gym is rude and tacky.

I don't have a problem with people talking at the gym if they stay out of my way doing it, i don't go to the gym to socialize, i do work and go home...

I really don't care to hear how so and so got crabs or there baby momma/daddy is a POS. Take the phone call else where. If I'm doing cardio with a friend we usually talk, but we don't talk so loud that the person at the other end of the gym can hear us. So as long as who ever is talking with a normal voice level that's fine with me.

If your going to stand in the middle of equipement and carry on a conversation make sure your not leaning on a machine or standing in the way of someone trying to use a machine. Move to the side.
