I haven't heard from the trainer yet to meet up, they must be busy.

He's doing well. He's quite the sniffer outside - I think he must be part Hound LOL

I am trying to get the word out to the K-9 law enforcement community, and dog trainers in general about Boxy. It is my hope that someone with dog training know-how can take this boy and figure out how best he will fit into a home. It's been 4 months and Boxy needs to go. I hear cries from my cat every night that she is shut out of my bedroom (Boxy is in there). Saying I have been sleep-deprived for the past 4 months is an understatement. I really care about Boxy, but I can't continue this for much longer keeping Boxy and my dog apart, and having to hear my cat cry at night wanting in my bedroom.

Boxy is well housebroken, trained in obedience, and up-to-date on shots, heartworm preventative, and flea/tick treatment too.

He's excitable, but he will listen. His biggest problem is he gets so excited and wiggles while wagging his tail so hard it hurts if his tail hits your leg LOL He seems to be a very happy boy.

His blind eye may be a bad thing for him, as some people won't want to deal with him due to that disability. He seems to be a normal, young, energetic dog that always wants to play.

His ideal human would be an active man or woman that is single, or a childless couple that are active. He needs a yard to play in, or a good bit of walking daily to keep his energy level satisfied. He will lay around and watch TV with you, but he also needs to release his energy too.

Please help us spread the word about Boxy!

I'm going to check with Catt to see if we can get a price from the vet that treated him before, for fixing Boxy's eye. Once we have a price, I am hoping that we can get volunteers to help with the cost.

I would think that the money can be paid directly to the vet on Boxy's behalf? I think Boxy will have a better chance at being adopted if his eye were closed, as looking at it can be distressing to some people.

I had hoped that Boxy would have been placed at a Boxer rescue or adopted before now, since he hasn't, and it's become apparent to me that I'm in this for the long haul (been 4+ months already), I think Boxy deserves to get his eye fixed.

We started our Flower Power Fundraiser for this Spring - I am so anxious to get new plants from them. I've ordered from them for years and always get good quality plants and bulbs. The order process is between the buyer and Flower Power only, and they will ship your order directly to you for a low flat fee.

Campaign | Flower Power Fundraising

I'm going to take Boxy's picture next to some of the plants/flowers we got in a prior year's sale as soon as they re-grow tall enough to show how good they look.

Ark, do you have an estimate of the costs to cover closing Boxy's eye? I'm curious how much something like that would cost? Do you think it would help if that were done to get him adopted?

Catt is going to call them to see what they would charge. It's a bit disturbing to some to look at his eye in its current state because you see flesh in the socket and bloody-looking redness from remaining tissue there. I have also noticed he gets dirt in his eye, especially when the wind is blowing. The dirt causes his eye to weep mucous. He's very good about letting me clean his eye area though.

I have good news, we may have found a financial backer for getting the non profit status for the rescue. I hope we get the status this year. We'd be thrilled. I called the Bar Association to get a recommendation of a lawyer experienced in handled non profit filings. Once we get a cost estimate, I will present that to the potential backer to see if they are willing to sponsor the cost.

Previously we had a vet that offered to help, and after accepting about 8 cases from their referral calls, we were full and could not longer take more cases, now they don't seem interested in helping.

Talk about being HAPPY !!

I already knew that it can HURT to stand next to Boxy when he gets excited and wags his tail (whack whack whack on my leg lol). He got so excited to see my family when they came over that his tail hit the fence post so hard (we were standing next to), his tail started to bleed. Took me a minute to realize what was going on until I saw blood on his side from the wagging tail hitting him in the side - aww poor baby.

Talk about being excited to the point of pain ..... Note to self. don't stand next to a fence post with Boxy to greet people. I had to calm him down and hold his tail to stop the bleeding. I have to say, this is a first for me to witness LOL.
