Maybe bob had a good reason to join many years ago, but the only reason to join in the last four years is if you're stupid or naive.

If I was old enough to enlist in the days after 9-11, I would have. There were alot of people who enlisted after 9-11, and who can blame them?

My husband's cousin was one of those who enlisted after 9/11. He's served two tours in Iraq and is currently stationed in Afghanistan.

This was not a threat. I didn't say I wanted to be the one to do it. I did indicate that I would be happy see forest banned. If he met bodily harm, it is unlikely I would know about it.

I think that is appropriate advice, although I do not believe it is possible. He/it has been about as graceful as a rhino on a tightrope.

I usually don't even respond to him/it because (a) I think his posts are not worth it, and (b) others are better at it than myself.

But he/it truly showed the ugliness that lies beneath in the last 24 hours. I have never met Bob, Bustem, MMDad or most of the others here, but I can see them as good, decent people. Moreover, they - and the others that have served - have done so because they are capable of seeing the big picture: that there is a 'right' to fight for (as well as a wrong to fight against), and they have been willing to put their personal beliefs and affiliations aside to stand for those things. That willingness is called courage, not stupidity.

Anyone with a rational sense knows this.

Forestal doesn't. He/it doesn't just show his blind ideology, he/it flaunts it like a 40 foot neon sign at midnight.

When other Democrats are suggesting you leave... that is a bad sign. No one can force you, but I can't imagine why you would stay, just to embarrass yourself further.
