My husband spent the night on the sidewalk at Best Buy last night awaiting the sale of the Xbox 360 this morning. He got there at midnight and was 19th in line - there are 52 systems available and the line grew overnight and all are spoken for now. Crazy!! They're coming out at 8am to hand out tickets to the people in line and at 9am they can go in and purchase their systems. It had to be the nastiest night in a LONGGGGGGGG time...the poor things. :lmao:

Apparently people camped out at Wal-Mart yesterday during the day and they handed out tickets at 5pm for the systems that were up for sale at midnight.
I can’t understand why the makers of things like an X-box 360 don’t make more. They KNOW that there will be a high demand for these items, and that people will be lining up for them, so why not make the supply higher? Why do they only give Best Buy 52 of them for the holiday season? That’s just stupid.

There was a basic model that was advertised for $299 and another for $399.......Don't ask me what the difference is cause I have not a clue
I THINK I know.. the 299 is only one controller and a single game.. for $399 you get two controllers, a HardDrive to store games, and internet ability to play onlline.. all can be bought as accessories for the $299 model..

What Can You Expect From Xbox 360?

"If you are the kind of person who just couldn't get into gaming, you probably cannot fathom why a new piece of hardware is creating such a buzz. For veteran gamers and loyal newcomers it marks the coming of a new age, it's a new testament that couldn't have come soon enough."

That about sums it up...:yay:

OK, they are coming from Japan.. EVERY store in the US gets 52 of them (not just Best Buy).. how many MILLIONS of X-Boxes is that already? Probably took them 6 months to a year just to make the first salvo... THAT and they get all this free publicity.. people camping.. etc...

I’m still thinking that the more you supply, considering the high demand for the item, they will still be able to charge a bundle for them.

Yes and no.....plus, it's the new toy, if you give it to everyone all at once, they demand just won't last long.

Unless of course your kids knock it off and break it. :burning:

Yes, you would still have tons of people lining up at midnight to get them.

I'll never understand anyone's (especially adults) desire to submerse themselves in a fantasy world (with all your clothes on) for hours at a time. Real life has so much to offer, romance, adventure, danger and excitement. I'll just accept the fact that some folks like that sort of thing and let it go.
Oh good grief. :duh: :eek:ldfart: :lmao:

:yeahthat: This happens every time a new gaming console hits the streets, all the way back to ColecoVision. Not to mention that the suppliers are also delivering the system to Europe, South America, Canada, etc. There is just no way that the manufacturer can sit on that many games; they don't have the space for them. So they divide up the first production run across all markets. I'm sure there will be an article somewhere that mentions just how many units were delivered this go around.

I waited over a year before I got PS2, for two reasons: I waited for the $250 cost to come down, and I couldn't find a store that stocked them without still having to stand in line, or participate in some lottery, etc.

Otter was saying the other day he waited in line for PONG for 17 hours. I bet Ken King would have too but he was already too old for PONG when it came out.

You know, the sad thing is that the price for these systems will drop dramatically in the coming year. At the same time, I don't think that the games are backward compatible. It just seems like way to much money to spend on what is basically a bare computer with no operating system.

One of my sons friends, left Wal MArt and went to Target. At Target he was able to get THREE premium sytems ($399) and sold two of them in the parking lot for $600 each.. in the end he got his system for free!!
