Throupling anyone?

After you calm down, check the World Health Organization or National Institute of Health websites, you may be able to find some data there. Since many spontaneous abortions early in the pregnancy are unrecognized by the woman having the miscarriage, the rates of miscarriage are generally estimated. But some direct studies have put the rate at roughly 30%. Keep in mind that women in the 3rd world, generally don't have access to abortion clinics so the majority of fetuses are dying are from miscarriages and the rates are higher due to putrid health conditions. On top of that, if the fetus survives and is born, the odds of dying in the first 5 years of life are high due to diseases, AIDs, starvation, etc.

You are really showing your ignorance. I spent a good many years in Eastern Europe. Abortions are available on demand and in most cities. With the exception of some of sub-Saharan Africa, abortion is available throughout the developing world.

Of course, what is more rampant is USAID funded clinics throughout the developing world offering "reproductive health services" such as birth control.

why is it criminal? What business is it of the state who gets pregnant and at what age?

#devilsadvocate - If the state is expected to be raising these children born to teen mothers then they should know at which rate this is happening. Additionally, when it comes to budget time, and schools advocate for more money for reproductive health classes the state should have something to use as a metric for success or lack thereof.

Where did you get the idea that Eastern Europe is equivalent with 3rd World? And you should know, speaking of sub-Saharan Africa, that Christians who preach that birth control is a sin - primarily Catholics - are contributing to the human misery - many more babies born with AIDS.

The church has been saying "Maranatha" since the beginning. It means "Come soon Lord". When the Day of the Lord comes, it won't mean the end of mankind, but it will be the end of this world and the beginning of a better world without death and sin. Its only something to be afraid of if you are not reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ, such as you are. On that Day the books will be brought forth and justice will be done. Its not child abuse, its hope. Child abuse is teaching children that there is no God.

I was an evangelical Christian for a number of years so I understand this Biblical teaching well and I also understand your mentality. Just realize that Muslims could have it right and you could be entirely wrong. Since religion is all 'faith based', there is no way you can prove that Islam is incorrect, and that you have chosen the one true faith. If you're mistaken, you will guarantee an eternity in hell, not only for you but your children as well. I don't think you'll lose any sleep tonight over that proposition, but realize the Muslims are even more convinced than you that their faith is the one true faith.

For me, what is true is contingent on reason and evidence. Reality can only be known to reason. Religion is the only area of human discourse, where no proof is needed.

People will willingly self delude themselves for the promise of eternal life.

Again, your ignorance is showing. Do you know the difference between developing and developed countries? All of Eastern Europe is considered developing.

HIV/AIDS seroprevalence rates are drastically lower in SSA of late not just due to family planning, but mostly due to higher literacy rates among women, HIV/AIDS education, and lower transmission mother to child through breast feeding rates. Don't come on here throwing out statistics without knowing what you are talking about.

Now, to the heart of your problem...What event in your life made you pissed at God? Academic enlightenment surely is not the case with you.

Very sad that so many want to teach there is no God. They have everything to fear about death and their eternal consequences of non-belief.

I don' think PC will be able to grasp that concept that we who believe look forward to the return to call us up with Him, either through earthly physical death or by being caught up to Him in the clouds (rapture). Humankind will continue on, but through increasingly difficult and horrific times of the seven year Tribulation. Anyone still alive won't want to be, and will crave to repent and be saved and suffer whatever death is in their cards, or have no hope for eternity at all.

When the Lord said in Rev 22:20 "Surely, I come quickly. Amen", although nearly 2,000 years doesn't even register in His eternal being, with the signs of the times today, it has to be soon. Believers have nothing to fear, but those that don't believe, bad on them.

Sorry to hear you left the church. What you say about proof is not necessarily true. You should know that the resurrection is the proof.

Sorry, developing Eastern European countries are not considered 3rd World. And Catholics are still contributing to the death rates in Sub-Saharan Africa with their teachings that birth control is a sin. And really, do you have to resort to juvenile ad hominem attacks?

More importantly, I want you to realize that your thread "Throupling Anyone?", and your tying this to "marriage to animals" as the next step, demonizes the LGBT community. Is it your wish to be complicit in the beatings and killing of LGBT people through spreading more hate and intolerance in posts like this? Even though I am agnostic, I understand well what the Christian approach should be, and your approach is not it.

Ok I'll play semantics. I've been to 7 SSA countries (which are 3rd world to meet your definition) where abortion is legal, available, and even encouraged. How many have you been to? I don't care if I demonized the LGBT community. They are the ones demonizing themselves.

b23hqb, I get your thinking above but don't agree with advocating for the end which is what you appeared to do in your prior post. "Looking forward to the return", in your current post is a more benign position and one that I have no issue with. But I will oppose extremist mindsets when I see them being advocated.

With that way of thinking Catholics are contributing to the death rate all across the world!! :drama:

Catholics also teach that sex outside of marriage is a sin (which I'm pretty sure vraiblonde already pointed out to you), and I'm sure you wouldn't deny that abstinence has a better rate of preventing AIDS than condoms. Whether sex outside of marriage is called a sin or not is not relevant. People all over the world make daily choices, and some of those choices are whether to risk contracting AIDS, and that includes those in sub-Sahara Africa -- unless of course you want to say that those in sub-Sahara Africa are too stupid to make their own choices?

Sorry but the thought that the African women should just make their own decisions, without being influenced by Catholic teaching, is naïve and callous. By placing their religious dogma over the lives of Africans, Catholics commit murder. HIV/AIDS continues to be the leading cause of death in Sub-Saharan Africa, and women and children are being impacted in unthinkable numbers.

It really doesn't matter how many SSA countries you've been too or claim to have been to. SSA is a hell hole for HIV/AIDS and Catholics are contributing to the human misery by sacrificing African's lives in the name of Catholic dogma. Religious dogma resulting in human deaths, with absolutely no remorse. Sickening. And so is your hatred of LGBT.

"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

I don't think you have a real good handle on the meaning of agnostic.

So, you're saying that sub-Saharan African's are too stupid to make their own choices. Got it. :yay:

It's really very simple. If everyone followed Catholic teaching there would be no spread of AIDS because there would be no sex outside of marriage. People do or do not follow Catholic teaching by their own free-will choices. Sub-Saharan Africans are no different than the rest of the world in that regard.

But I mean, hey, if you want to continue to put the blame of AIDS in Africa at the feet of the Catholic Church, then perhaps you should put the blame of AIDS in the entire world at the feet of the Catholic Church because the Church's teaching is the same throughout. At least then your ridiculous notion would be more consistent.

Didn't you proclaim yourself to be a rational person? I'm kind of disappointed, although not surprised. :coffee:

It actually does matter...I've seen the devastation of AIDS in Africa. I also saw that the Catholic Church has little or no presence in SSA, and certainly no influence--it's not exactly the hotbed of Catholicism. Even more strange is your assertion that the RCC has so much influence over its flock. Hell, American Catholics overwhelmingly ignore teaching on contraception! Do you really believe SSA Catholics are the observant ones?!?! We are getting to the heart of the matter though. As R1 pointed out, you are not agnostic. And you are bitter! What happened?
