Do we believe that company would have just offered the upgrades without Union Represation?
They can always pay an employee more per hour and better perks. But they werent doing that.

Maybe, folks at non-unionized companies get raises also. My point was that the UPS union makes a reasonable ask. A while back, you mentioned the average wage of a UAW worker. I recently saw another, much higher number, the medians. My point being that making demands that will literally bankrupt the company are not productive. Why then would the union do it? Because they understand that the govt will bail them out again and again. Look at the tasks these workers are asked to do. Does the guy placing a seat into the car with the help of a robot arm and putting in four bolts with a powered torque limited wrench really deserve $80 an hour?

At GM, the median worker pay was $80,034 in 2022. It would take that worker 362 years to make Barra’s annual compensation.

At Ford, where the median pay was $74, 691, it would take 281 years.

At Stellantis, with a median pay of 64,328 euros, it would take 365 years, although the company noted its annual report that the disparity includes expenses related to Tavares’ one-time grant. Excluding that, the pay ratio is 298-1.

Show me the task in this video that looks like its worth $80 an hour..... Maybe the lady with the hammer and chisel. That looks to require experience that would take years to gain. I would wonder why that job hasnt been eliminated through process, though :)

I think where a union really does help is in the negations for things like health care and retirement. If it was up to the individual they would all request something "odd". Couple this with the fact that many simply don't understand health care or retirement they absolutely need a group in between to mediate. A large company could offer multiple plans, but a smaller one can't do that efficiently.

Do you believe that the non union workers would get the compensation just given to them without the Union workers that have a good contract? What would be the incentive for a company that has a renewable resorce for new employees?

So UPS getting a supposed fair contract (to you) with what almost 2 bucks an hour each year for the next five years was easily given by the company.
To you guys is it any different that putting a seat in a truck?
You do know that all new hires at least with GM start at 16 bucks an hour. Third shift.
After a few years they might get a 3 buck raise.
Tradesman still earn good bucks.

One reality is, a huge portion of workers in this country are to stupid to fill out paperwork to sign up to a company matched 401.
It matters not if one is a HS or a college grad.
Cant say how many times ive heard, I cant afford that 60 bucks a week.

Can't find one. Though they didn't show any robotic service/repair technicians. Technicians, which requires must haves such as; troubleshooting skills, schematic reading skills, multiple skills in the use of different types of measuring instruments and the complete understanding of electrical/electronics and hydraulic systems. Betcha those guys are getting at least $65-95 an hour. Or even the maintenance techs for the automated assembly lines. Which I am sure requires constant servicing and maintenance for safety protocols.

Yep, and those folks with those skills should get that big money. But the union wants that big money for every scrub on the line too.

You guys are so funny, the things you think you know.
I would bet all of you all have never even been in a manufacturing or assy plant.

About 5 or 6, ranging from Boeings P-8 production lines to a small plant in northern Minnesota where they make specialty valves for life rafts.

I used to work with an engineer who feels that way. He was a dumbass on so many levels that I had him shipped off to another department.

Did they also make the manual inflation nozzles for the Automatic Pilots?

Ok, Boeings production lines. So what do you think the percentage is on those lines with unskilled labor?
Not unskilled tier 1 - tier 10 suppliers employees, but unskiĺled with final production.

People doing jobs that can be performed with a week or so of training? Very few to none. No fabrication here, just assembly, but it requires skills to install things on that level. There isn't anyone there who installs just one simple component over and over.

Top line worker money is 32.32 an hour in Indiana as I type this. I just spoke to a GM final assy and a GM stamping plant 25-30 year workers. Like I said the newbies start at half of that. Its just not what the world thinks it is.
Skilled Trades Papered Journeymen, a bunch more.
They have been bringing back skilled trade retirees to work they are hurting so bad.
Mold and electricians are in huge demand.
