I see your point, however, the civil war wasn't just fought over slavery. No one is getting or demanding reparations for slaves. My husband has relatives that fought in the civil war, his uncle is doing research and has found relatives that served on both sides. Not saying this is our reason for flying a confederate flag, which we don't, but, if he wanted to do so, in remembrance of his relatives, should be his right to do that. If you've ever been in Charleston, SC. The old Slave Market building is being used for selling wares and trinkets now, but, its still called the Slave Market, to me, this is much more disturbing than a flag of a losing side.

Bigoted idiots rioted in Ferguson and Baltimore. Cops got shot in New York , certainly bigoted people belong to both races, but it's ok for blacks because they are so oppressed, and their feelings are so fragile. Roof was a crazed bigot , no one denies that.

That flag really didn't even has as much meaning in that day as it does today. The reason the flag was embraced in modern times was as resistance to desegregation and the civil rights movement as a passive-agressive way of saying FU Ni....
