ANything in particular you are having a hard time finding??

I dont know about him but I would like to have a place to buy/browse for baltic/finish/russian birch ply, good blades and router bits (the big boxes sell the cheap stuff), and a place to take a good look at the expensive big machinery like a $5000 unisaw before deciding thtas what I want from some internet pictures. Oh yea and things like small pieces of exotic hardwood and venieer.

In Southern Calvert County we need an auto parts store. It sucks to have to go across the bridge or up to Prince Frederick when you need parts.

an actual woodworkers supply store. Not like home depot or lowes deans hardware type store. I mean an actual woodworkers supply or rockler or something like that.

I'd love to give my business to Lowes and not the internet, but they don't sell the cordless tools I like (and are pretty much married to).. and I don't know how many time I've been there and they've said..
"Nope, we don't have that, you should check a hardware store!!"

To which I just look them in the eye and without saying a word telepathically transmit.. "REALLY? Where the hell AM I??"

I found one hardware store that does sell Makita, and they had one corded 10 inch cirucular saw on the shelf.. NO cordless, let alone the 18v Li_Ion I'm looking for.. TOOLKING.com ALWAYS has them, and usually just the bare tools (how many chargers and batteries do you need!??) For a bare tool, you can pay as little as 25% of the retail price of the tool, charger battery and a case..

I like Makita cordless too. I couldn't wait on internet/mail order, so was looking for a Li_Ion battery for a circular saw at Lowes. They told me I had to go the other store "whose name could not be mentioned". I had to drive up to Waldorf Home Depot to get it. :ohwell:

1. What business product or service are you looking for in somd?

2. Have you found an alternative and how difficult was it to find?

3. What would it mean to you if someone offered the it to you?

I'd have to say
1. Another phone provider other than comcast.

2. Nope

3. I'd switch tomorrow.

In answer to the OP, I'd rather do without than promote more unneccessary growth.

When I originally moved here, it was to escape all the crowding and stores and people in the DC area, and find a beautiful peaceful way of life that resembled the area I was originally from. It was worth my commute to DC from the 7th District. Seriously, how many steak houses do we need? I'd rather see some natural scenary than store after store and cookie cutter house after cookie cutter house. Not to mention all these chains seem to be putting local owners out of business, because heaven forbid it's not a chain restaurant or box store.

Oh and a good old fashioned bakery, not one of the cheap ass ones that is inside of a grocery store.

1,000 yard public access shooting range

ferry service (and expanded roadways) from piney point, md to eastern shore, VA (kinsale/tappahannock)

X10 to both of those.

Of course we would have that ferry already if the local NIMBYs had not chased it away. :coffee:

dont need it personally anymore but asomeplace to get maternity clothes that actually has a decent selection.

Stop overbuilding along 235 with big box and chains, make an incentive for the small business owner to be able to open and compete here. Family-owned, family-run restaurants. Diners, real N/NJ style diners open 24 hours (yeah, I know our area wouldn't support that...just dreaming). Someone mentioned a bakery. YES!!! REAL hearth baked crispy French and Italian breads with FLAVOR! (Wildewood is primarily a cake shop. I tried a loaf of "Italian" bread from there..... worse than the worst grocery store chain bread I ever had).
