For those of you who'd keep it...

...you all seem unanimous that it would be drug money.

Now, you'd have to find it SOMEWHERE and that is just about where the loser of said $'s would start looking for it, right?

This group of people, the 'keepers' are already past what they should do with it and are now happily deciding what to spend it on.

Would there be, maybe in the back of your mind, some concern that whomever lost it might be willing to do pretty much anything to get it back?

I mean, you're not gonna find it in a void. It's gonna be in public somewhere. Are you gonna worry that MAYBE someone saw you, that they may tell someone else, maybe under duress?

Is there just zero concern that you need to be looking over your shoulder? No concern for where this may lead for yourself or your friends or family?

I mean, this kid broke down he was so nervous and, it seems, no one was looking for him. So he was young and dumb, right? Why would he be nervous over something that is completely fine?

40-50 year old people do stupid stuff all the time. Lose their temper, get in fights, divorce. Tell on one another after X years of being friends, lovers, married.

I'm just saying, if it isn't a matter of right and wrong, might it be a matter of life and death?

Alright, fine. If I find $200,000 in cash laying on the street, I'll take it to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office so the "finest" can pocket it. :yay:

Who even says you have to do that? At least, initially. If you're concerned about the person you give it to pocketing it, then take out a half page ad in the newspaper. Indicate that money was found, but not how much, not where, and not what it was in. Make the person claiming it identify it.

Good idea. Next time I find $200,000 I'll be sure to do just that!

Even after the cops tell you that you can keep it, you'd still give it away. Are you nuts?
No. Just ugly.

Seriously, there are many more people in this world who are more deserving of the "found" money than I am. I used Hospice as an example because I firmly believe in everything that they do, and they have earned my respect and donation. The found cash wasn't "my" money to begin with, so it only seems right that someone else - in this case an organization that I respect - could benefit from my luck. It really is that simple.

Now, can someone lend me a dolla?

Do I use the money I found for the full page ad? Or should I unselfishly use my own money? Yea, right.

I would use the money I found. I'm sure the person who discovers his money was found would be happy to pay for the ad. Wouldn't you? Oh wait, I almost forgot, we're talking about greed here.

Never mind.

Thanks, sweetums, but I really don't need a hand out. I'd rather take pride in knowing that I'm an honest person who can earn her keep without stealing from other people. But that's just me.

PLEASE, no one needs to ask what "NAABC" stands for. You really don't want to know.

Donate your found money to Hospice instead.
