What's the worst gift

My ex bought me a saphire necklace with 2 diamonds..... he spent way too much on something I would never wear. It was the thought behind it that mattered but I'm not a flashy lady and I don't like diamonds.

I am not a big jewelry person either. I wear it when I go out but its the cheap stuff. Yes it is the thought that counts but if the SO really knows his girlfriend or wife he should know she doesn't wear jewelry. I have gotten jewelry also and while it was pretty it wasn't what I wanted.

ANd you told him you wanted red too... the nerve of him :duh:

You think you will get the hope diamond like you asked for?
:lmao:

I think a lot of reason ppl get put in the doghouse because of sh1tty gifts is simply because they are too lazy/selfish to take the time to get to know the person they are buying for...or care enough to want to. That's the problem, you know.

This isn't really a bad gift but not very exciting. When my son was a baby I would get diapers and wipes for Christmas and birthday from my mom. I appreciated because I am a single mom with little money but it was depressing.
I don't think I have ever gotten any bad gifts. But I don't think I have ever gotten any heartfelt and thoughtful gifts from a SO. I'm not really a materialistic person but I would like a card and something sweet every once in awhile. Oh well.

You're not materialistic. It kind of hurts when you get something that really isn't anything you're interested in, or the person didn't take the time to think about before getting it.

My hubby got me a rototiller for Mother's day. I was perfectly fine with it.

I would love a tiller!!!
Really anything that has to do with gardening too :yay:

I am a rough an tumble person, I would be afraid I would lose or break it. We never went any place I could wear jewelry and we were having money problems at the time he got it.... I kind of got mad at him for it. I don't like diamonds b/c of slavery in the diamond industry.

Men think differently. It's not that they are too lazy or selfish. They just do not pay attention to detail like women do. They try. Most men assume that women like jewelry because most women do. Men are just different creatures. Could be worse, they could actually be lazy/selfish and not get you a damn thing.

I think it's pretty lazy and selfish if you aren't really paying attention to what your woman wants.

:yeahthat: Ive always made every attempt to make the woman I was with cry on christmas or her birthday (if I cared about her). AND NOT BECAUSE OF A DONKEY PUNCH :killingmeBut seriously, That's always the goal. Something she will NEVER forget. 1 girl I just painted a picture It took me like 3 weeks to paint it (pretty big canvas) but it was a simple painting that I knew she would love (Two hands holding a heart with the words Eternally Yours) She cried, we did it, ding fries were done.

(I got a X-box 360 and 5 games from her that year).

(I want my painting back) :ohwell:

Many men don't pay attention to detail. I told BF that I was working at a certain time once each day for 3 days. He forgot.
Last night, in front of the boy I said to both of them that I wanted shelves put up for Christmas... I'm going to tell them again today. I don't ask for anything for Christmas b/c a)its for the kids b)I get what I want year round and c)I got this kick ass car that is being restored right now and the paint job is worth more than any nice piece of jewelry anybody could buy me.

So that way the boy can feel like he got me something by helping BF put up shelves.

It was a kitchen knife....chopping veggies and all that jazz. Oh, and he even got me a really nice pocket knife too.

Never buy a woman a knife. End discussion.

Women are supposed to have jewelry, it's part of the Natural Order of the Universe. Shiney and pretty to accent shiney and pretty. That's the way it works.

You know how the guy is long before you marry him. If you marry him, and then whine when he does the expected, you're the idiot that married him.

I would love a tiller!!!

You're on crack. :huggy:

What about the countries that have full employment, free health care and free advanced education because of diamonds?

I think it's pretty lazy and selfish if you aren't really paying attention to what your woman wants.

No, you're just worried that your wife will kick your damn teeth out. She's tougher than you are.

See that's the thing, he used to buy me gear for camping, hiking and other things I liked.
As far as the diamond, I'm just assuring that I'm not supporting that kind of slavery. If he really insisted on getting me a diamond, it will either be created or fair trade.... you can even make diamonds from dead people now.

Actually I need the ISBN # for the new scout book, do you have that? My son is getting a copy for Christmas! He is so excited!
