As an owner of 5 dogs-I can not imagine how I would have reacted had this happened to one of mine. Surely there was some other way the LEO could have handled this situation.
My heart goes out for the loss of Max.

Hey Vans, I got the same message. :howdy:

I didn't pass judgment before knowing both sides of the story. To shot the home owner's dog serving a petty ass child support warrant already seemed unreasonable to me. A police officer’s job is about 90 some percent observation and therefore, he should always be completely aware of his surroundings. Now I hear both sides of the story, guess which one doesn’t make sense to me? That's right, the Sheriff’s Departments version! If they think the public is going to buy that bit about them finding the missing link on a chock collar that they said broke all while leaving behind 7 bullet casing, they really think the citizens are stupid. I'm disappointed that Rex Coffey can even justify that. :peaceout:

I got it too! :howdy:

I don't know what he'd be doing, or if I had a say what I would force him to do, as I don't know what happened at the house other than what the emotional family members tell us (that weren't there) and the press that is trying to make this out as bad as possible for the Deputy.. Too one sided a story so far, and I would hope our Sherrif will stand by his deputy until the evidence proves otherwise, and not be a leader like the Chief in Los Angeles who has his cops strung up before the news gets on the TV..

Seems like the "evidence" is proving exactly what happened. He shot a family dog. There was blood everywhere. It was senseless and the police didn't even collect the shell casings...AND he has a history of doing this. :shocking:

It might be a dog, but to some people they are actually PETS. And there are some people in this world that love dogs like their children.
Come into my yard and my dogs are gonna react the same way, he did not belong there.

I agree!!!.. I always say I only have 4 legged kids.. They are part of MY family and household and are always treated as if they are my children!

What are other citizens doing to express they're disgust over the whole matter?

Has anyone seen a statement from the sheriff's office yet?
How long can we expect to wait for an explanation?

I would like to know what I could do ,as a Chas. County resident, so that this don't get swept under the rug.

I am new here and have visited a few times , I wanted to let you guys know that I have pictures of what happened to our family dog and would be more than ready to share them with anyone who would like to see them. The pictures where taken when the police where still there. I know if you all saw the evidence for yourself you would know why we are pushing this . We have had calls to our home asking us to please go threw with all of this because they work with him and he is no good. Nobody has left a name in fear of there own job. Of course we understand that they would not want to go against there own (people)We are not saying police are bad because most are good but there are bad ones that are protected for the sake of the department. I will not send any pictures of max that show his uper half of his body for respect of MAX but I can show you that the chain did not just break and a few more details. We just want this guy off the streets . The warrant was for missed childsupport , I agree is very bad but after knocking on two doors he could have not walked passed max to go to a third. Someone was home 1 hour later. He could have called animal control if he really felt he needed to knock on the third door but I guess he thought walking passed our dog after knowing he was there! He should have had his ass bit, Max was protecting his home , on his tie, at our back garage door. Please feel free to ask for pictures , I am doing this for the love of MAX.

Very sorry for you loss. What happened is inexcusable. I really hope the officer receives a punishment befitting the crime he committed. Yes I say crime because I believe it was a crime to kill an animal that was protecting his property.

I saw the story on Channel 7 news last night and I got the feeling the sheriff's office doesn't care. Joe Motminy said it's unfortunate, but basically "oh well". That's crap, especially when the officer apparently has killed 3 other dogs. Sounds like he has issues and is in the wrong profession.

I have not seen the news clip (Dems tivo'ed it, but I heard it is somewhat bias):ohwell:

As usual, the media is worthless.

However, I have to believe that this law officer is hiding something because:

The Sheriff's office has not brought anything to light, to make me think otherwise.
We all know that they just want it TO GO AWAY.

That is why, I am of the opinion that he needs to be removed from the force. Additionally, any individual on the force that tries to CYA should go to.
Men and Women in uniform are not allowed to make mistakes and hide them, this is precisely why the citizens who do respect officers, firemen, soldiers etc, have started to lose the respect was once a given.
(See Virgo's post, she say's it better.)

With live rounds, perhaps? :coffee:
Dear Karma Giver:

whats up with??? 05-19-2007 07:08 AM OK, so your are suggesting using live rounds on the officer. I think you need to be investigated.

My post was meant to be sarcastic, really. I don't 1) Look at this individual as an officer of the law; I respect our folks in blue too much. 2) It was a comment shot from the hip, not from a barrel. Perhaps I should have used :sarcasm:

As I've tried to convey, he doesn't deem himself worthy of being an officer of the law, or even respected as a human - IF we are to find things unfold as true.

And to clarify for later posts, this has nothing to do with any other person who protects, saves and serves for the greater good.

whats up with??? 05-18-2007 03:04 PM You are not a cop so you don't know what you would have done!

Seems like anybody who has the OPINION that this could have been avoided, is getting red karma. Not that I give a sh!t about Karma, but you don't know me, so YOU DON'T KNOW that I'm not a cop. I'm not a cop, but I do work with police, and my OPINION this guy was a little too quick with the gun. I don't give out red karma every time I don't agree with somebody, grow up!

SO what you are saying is if this dirtbag paid his childsupport like he was supposed to, this would have never happened in the first place??

Of course what's the big deal him not taking care of his kid(s)... not like he wasn't feeding the dog or something REALLY important like that.

Sounds like the dirtbag that didn't pay the child support should have had his ass bit.

Lets see pictures of the guy that caused the cop to come out there in the first place.. matter of fact, tell us where he lives now so nobody goes to the wrong house again.

I read her post 3 times and do not see where she mentioned anything about it. Have they even proving that it was a family member that the cop was looking for?
I've always liked you Bob, but you are being heartless about this. The cop was wrong.

She herself said the warrant was for missed child support, and I'm assuming since they went to THAT house it was someone that had lived there in the past.

Granted it MIGHT have been the previous owner, but I'm assuming it's someone the family knows, and if so, did they know the cops were looking for him?? DO they know where he is but didn't share that information?

Lot of questions..

Even if the warrant was for a family member that used to live there, it does not warrant the death of their dog. UFB.

and if he had done what he was supposed to (paid the child support), this would be a non-event. The cop would have never been there, the dog never would have done anything (if the dog did do anything), the cop wouldn't have been able to shoot the dog, because.. The cop wouldn't have had a reason to be there!!

I don't have to worry about a cop shooting either one of my dogs because I've NEVER given them, nor has any of my family members, a reason to come looking for me or anyone related to me.
