Pretty big group of people all born in America? Yes, I guess I am.
I'm sure you can prove it, so apply for benefits and open a casino. Good luck.

Do tell....
I'm not sure if it was intentional or not , but I think you missed the point of the question. I'm not looking to open a casino. I know what a Native American is, and I know what an American Indian is. I think one is a subset of the other - I do not think they're synonyms.I'm sure you can prove it, so apply for benefits and open a casino. Good luck.

Thus, I used the more correct "American Indian". A subset of the Native American. Then you also know that they are called "Indians" because the euorpean explorers thought they were in India. The name stuck.
I understood your question perfectly. I was just being as argumentative as you were.
Eskimos.
Should Whites be allowed to have a "separate but equal" month celebrating and commemorating the history and achievement of Whites in America?
What would be the point? If you have even the slightest familiarity with American history, you would realize that the concept of a month to commemorate the contributions of America's various minorities emerged because the more regressive elements of America refused to acknowledge them in the first place.
Do you believe the white majority has been denied its due, for contributing to American history? If you can prove it, I will wholeheartedly support any effort to designate a month to acknowledge its accomplishments.
While I do acknowledge that these months are a painful reminder of our country's sordid past, I do believe them to be necessary. Being able to read the entire American story, is the greatest form of reparation anyone could ever receive.
you tell me now where they haven't been aknowledged
If I'm understanding your question correctly: The justifications have changed in the post-Civil Rights era.
These celebrations now serve as a means to combat the frequently one-dimensional portrayals of minorities by the media.
blacks aren't really a minority anymore. have you been to dc? lp? what about the other, more minor minorities. where is their month.
I work in DC, and yes - it does by far have a black majority. But Black History month is not primarily directed towards the Greater Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan Area, it is directed towards the nation as a whole.
Concerning other minorities, perhaps you should do some research. You will find that WGN (for example) celebrates Asian American History month.......

You look mighty cute today.

Have you been to Minisota before. The last time I checked they don't have many black people there. That proves that blacks are still a minority.

well do you genuinely feel that the accomplishments of black people have gone unnoticed i've said it before i dont care who the #### invented that #### in order to appreciate it. i just care about its usefulnessDo you genuinely feel as though the accomplishments of white people (in general) have gone unnoticed? Please explain your intentions. I'm currently having a hard time viewing this as nothing more than a mean-spirited and petty attempt, to further sully racial relations.
so what? who cares about some little colony you call 'minisota' the point of the matter is that blackeys are the MAJORITY IN OUR COUNTRY'S CAPITAL. the weight of that significant little tidbit will certainly tip the scales in favor of blackey majority.
