Why so mean spirited?

Not every newbie is met with ridicule and flaming. I think of it like going to party where everyone knows everyone else, and you don't know anyone. Do you walk in, announce yourself and start telling them how much you hate the party, can't stand the house it's being held in, and complain that the guests are all a bunch of jerks?

Or do you smile, introduce yourself and try to find some people you have something in common with, while avoiding the drunk with the lampshade on his head?

I get the lamp shade today. Rose can have it tomorrow.

Hey.. You and BS Gal represent the "fell right into place" crowd...:howdy: Along with several others. Why do the 'newbies' keep insisting that all newbies are 'run off' from here when our regular user base continues to grow and grow...

Something else you may want to consider. We veterans like the forums just the way they are. Why is it that noobies always want to change things to their liking, instead of adjusting to what's already there? Who do you think you are to come here and tell us how we should behave? Aren't you just full of yourself?

Who is full of one's self? Calling the kettle black it seems. :lmao:

Sorry if asking people to be civil is considered to be such a sin.

When you say "we" I am talking to you and the mice in your pocket. Ya know, all the uncivil mice.

Who are you to act as a owner of the forum? If you refer to the rules of SOMD forums:

"No flaming the newbies. This should be a friendly and welcoming environment for new members, not a trial by fire."

"We hope you enjoy the forums, as we enjoy providing them for you. But we have no tolerance for people who can't conduct themselves in a mature fashion."

"No abusive or obscene karma comments."
http://forums.somd.com/faq.php?faq=rules_root#faq_rules_01

So NO I am not telling you how to behave - I am telling you to follow the rules or leave! Do your posts fall within the lines of the rules?

I challenge you to show me where I've flamed anyone. As for making noobies welcome, please read post #159.

I see very little "flaming" of newbies. Do they get teased? Yes. Unfortunately, there are some that consider a little banter to be "abusive" and "flaming".

If they come in with a crappy attitude, it gets thrown back at them. Just like in real life! If they come in looking for a party, that's what they'll find.

The baynet has a forum that is nice and sweet.

If this place is so damn negative and "drives people away", why are there 31 people on Baynet right now and 1200 on here?
