Somebody is going to take the fall for this, but it won't change the fact that Alex Baldwin violated the basic rules of gun handling.

Obviously they need to hire fatter camera operators.

Interesting how good old Director Michael Moore has been silent on this?
If one was behind Moore, Alex could have shot him with a 700 Nitro and the crowd behind him would be safe.

Just sneakin' around....
There's another crazy rumor out that this woman was pregnant with Baldwin's kid . :sshrug:
Someone else mentioned that... not buying into that one. If she was pregnant, it would show up in the autopsy and he'd be up for a double-homicide. Killing her because she might have been pregnant makes no sense, even to Baldwin.

Anybody saying it was a "Prop Gun" is misinformed. It was a "Real Gun" with a real bullet. Prop guns will not allow a real bullet to be chambered.

Anyone who handles a real gun without inspecting it themselves to determine if it is loaded or not is negligent and personally responsible for the consequences.

Looks like they were also using the gun for target practice, just that morning.

Crew members on the movie "Rust" reportedly used the firearm involved in the death of Halyna Hutchins the morning of the fatal accident.

According to a search warrant executed by the Santa Fe County Sheriff's office, obtained by Fox News, Armorer Hanna Gutierrez Reed handled the prop gun, leaving it among others on a cart outside the set location they were filming. Assistant director Dave Halls then retrieved the gun and handed it to actor Alec Baldwin announcing that it was a "cold gun," a term used to indicate that a prop gun is safe to handle and not loaded with live ammunition.

Read that there were 2 - 3 other cases of "misfires" and that 6 union camera crew walked off set a few days ago. Also, that they were replaced by nonunion crew.
They were supposedly "unexpected discharges" not misfires. Revolvers can't just unexpectedly discharge unless the hammer is manually cocked back, in the case of a single action revolver, and the trigger pulled, or in some cases when the gun is dropped while the hammer is cocked. In a double action revolver, it can be fired by pulling the trigger which pulls the hammer back and releases the hammer at its apex to hit the firing pin after the cylinder has rotated lining up the next bullet to be fired, and, can also have the hammer manually cocked ready to shoot until the trigger is squeezed. Each pull of the trigger, or each cocking of the hammer, rotates the cylinder holding the six bullets to lock in position a bullet ready to fire.

Which means, there were some ignorant people, just playing with guns, when they went off, unexpectedly.

It will be interesting to see what manufacturer and vintage of pistol was being used by Baldwin?
Just to see if its a pre or post rebound hammer.
