Alec Baldwin's Gun Didn't 'Accidentally Discharge,' But Gun Owners Already Know That

Who Is to Blame?

Wow, I can think of a few. Let’s start with the “armourer” or “gun wrangler.” She is a 24-year-old former model. Her job is to make sure this kind of thing doesn’t happen, yet it did, several times, as the crew mentioned. I don’t know her qualifications. I have no idea if she grew up around guns, has National Rifle Association (NRA) weapons training, or got the job because she is someone’s latest muse niece.

Whoever hired her is suspect too. Did that person look into the armourer’s qualifications? I promise you that more than one reader here at PJ Media would LOVE to get paid to wrangle guns for Hollywood. And they’d know how to do it. How many of you would take charge of Hollywood guns for $300 per day? Please let me know in the comments section. Keep in mind, you’ll have to deal with jackpuddings like Baldwin.

What about Baldwin himself? Is he culpable? The internet is full of jokes at the progressive snob’s expense. Word on the street is that he was screaming, “Why was I handed a hot gun!” as his victims lay bleeding. Instead of attacking responsible gun owners for years, maybe Alec should have taken ONE DAY out of his life to attend a gun-training program with the NRA. Or, maybe, learned how to apply a t-shirt to a gunshot wound until the medics arrive.

:shocking:

The Alec Baldwin Conundrum

Alec Baldwin got to play his dream role last week, and unfortunately for an innocent woman, it was a method-acting version of Ted Kennedy. Now, you note that I am mocking a guy whose probable gross negligence killed a lady and maimed a man, and this raises an important question – do we really want to live in a world where our reaction to a tragedy caused by an enemy is not sorrow and compassion but mockery?

It doesn’t matter what we want. We do live in such a world, in large part due to the likes of Alec Baldwin. Besides his scuzzy abuse of the people – notably women – in his orbit, he is a particularly loathsome social media presence, and as a result, conservatives are gleefully resurrecting his old tweets about guns and his wish for them to be used on his many, many enemies in the wake of his horrible act. There are many, many such tweets. I am not a believer in karma and do not fear it, but I do try to keep a respectful distance from irony.

It was his production, so he was in charge. Ultimately he is going to be responsible over who was hired for this movie. All the rest right now is people trying to cover for his image. So NBC needs to find someone else to portray Trump.

I do. :sshrug:

An average of 7000 people die in this country every day, do we intend to mourn them all? Cause that's a lotta grief.

At some point you have to pick and choose, and I like to reserve my sympathy for non-aholes who are suffering not by their own recklessness and poor decisions. Little kids with cancer. Women shoved into moving subway trains. That sort of thing.

Alec Baldwin is highly mockable because he's such a jerk, plus he seems to have a "tragedy" of his own making every other day. I heard a remark the other day about his fake wife vs. real gun and laughed out loud. So yeah, eff him.

Plus it was Karmic.

Their turd polishing terminology is irritating. That gun didn't "misfire", nor was Baldwin just sitting there when all of a sudden the gun jumped up and shot that woman. I saw one yesterday - I wish I'd have copy/pasted it on here - that indicated the bullets just came out of the gun for no apparent reason.

This isn't a case of a rare accident like falling down the stairs, this is someone with a safety critical job not doing it properly.

You said "WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING", I answered in effect that it doesn't really "KEEP HAPPENING". Your question was obviously trying to frame this as a systemic issue that happens too frequently, when in reality this particular case (as with the priors) was an apparent very rare case gross negligence and not following the processes.

Quit trying to re-frame the issue and statement that I was respond to, just own your original dumb comment.

I think the best sentence I've seen about this was somewhere along the lines of, "The gun went off, the bullet seeking a young cinematographer....."

That bullet had probably been plotting this for days. "Hmmm," it said, "How can I jump into that gun, talk it into firing, and find that woman who pissed me off?" (cue the theme song from Mission: Impossible)

Witnesses said actor Alec Baldwin was "practicing" with a gun when it went off before filming started on the set of "Rust" in New Mexico, according to new information released Sunday in search warrants.
The new information includes previously unreported statements from director Joel Souza and cameraman Reid Russell.
Souza, 48, said Baldwin had been practicing Thursday when the gun went off, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, and injuring the director, according to the latest warrant information.

I guess its the more stories printed over what happened the less blame on Baldwin. The real story was he was doing a scene and pointing the gun at the camera. He fired the gun going through the woman behind the camera and hitting a guy behind her.

Well, I mean..... :sshrug:

FACT: Alec Baldwin pointed a gun at someone and pulled the trigger.

That's what happened.

Whether he meant to shoot her or not, that is what in fact happened.

Alec Baldwin’s Rust stunt double accidentally fired two rounds before fatal shooting

The armourer on set – tasked with overseeing prop guns and other potentially dangerous items – was a 24-year-old former model and actress who had only served as head armourer previously on one movie, The Old Way, which wrapped not long before the Rust shoot.

Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the daughter of a respected Hollywood firearms expert, told a podcast last month that her interest in following her father’s footsteps had only piqued in recent years and, before taking on the head armourer role for The Old Way, she “was really nervous about it” and “almost didn’t take the job.”

Armorer, 24, in charge of firearms on the set of Rust 'once gave an 11-year-old actress a gun without checking it': Described by co-worker as 'green and inexperienced' while working Alec Baldwin's western before fatal accident

'She was a bit careless with the guns, waving it around every now and again.'

A search warrant released Friday said that Gutierrez-Reed laid out three prop guns on a cart outside the filming location, and first assistant director Dave Halls grabbed the gun from the cart and brought it inside to Alec Baldwin, unaware that it was loaded with live rounds.

'Cold gun!' shouted Halls before handing the gun to Baldwin, using the phrase to signal to cast and crew that the gun was safe to fire for the scene, the warrant said.

I'm going to call it right here ...... this girl is going to JAIL .. Baldwin will escape all culpability
