This has gone on how many days? I think you're the one needing a head exam for letting your child suffer like that. ufb, lady.

That's why I said she could be exagerating. If my child were in that much pain, I wouldn't have waited to speak with my primary provider to be told I need to go to the ER. I would already know that. If I weren't satisfied with the ER, I'd take my child to another one, or to Childrens, as has been suggested.

I would not be sitting around posting on a forum if that was my child. Common sense says get your child somewhere for testing ASAP.

Meningitis being the first thing that popped into my brain.

I had a friend who is recovering from his menengitis attack he had a year ago... he lost his hearing because of it, which is lucky because he almost lost his life. The worst part is that he was a professional singer and he no longer can be.

I'd have him in to to the ER.

Woah Woah Woah...how did it go from yesterday everyone saying that their thoughts and prayers are with her to now attacking her? As parents, we're constantly told not to be extremists and we know that kids can exaggerate. I'd say that calling 911 yesterday, she did a great job of getting him help. Back off of her for a little bit, it's easy to sit here and judge but for goodness sakes...if you have these thoughts, can you imagine how terrified she must be?
Also, it's easy to say what you WOULD have done, but unless you've been in this exact situation, you have no idea.

Good Luck with everything, I'm keeping you and your little guy in my prayers. Let's hope for good news and it's just a pinched nerve or something small like that...

For no reason should you trust St Mary's. Because of St Mary's I landed up in the hospital for a week because they didn't feel like running ALL of the tests they should have

Attacking? The lady needs to get off the computer and take care of her child. A kick in the azz is what she needs. She's obviously not terrified enough to stop typing and get her child somewhere help is available.

You must have me confused with someone else. I've offered advice, but not thoughts and prayers. To be perfectly honest, I think she's a munchausen mommy.

If you think that was an attack, then you don't read the forums much.

I think if the OP calls Children's they will take them in. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL CLINIC IN WALDORF!!! It's on Rt 925.

Having raised children to adulthood I can safely say I have been there, done that.

Yikes, but thank God we live in a time where they've found a way to deal with it. I know it used to be a death sentence. How old were you when you were diagnosed/treated?

30. And if you don't get treatment it can kill the crap out of you. And it is contagious. The ladies telling her to get her kid to Children's already know this.

You know, time after time people come here for advice, and these people offer it up. Even if the asker doesn't take the advice. The members you are accusing of attacking the mom want to help the kid. Plain and simple.

I don’t think anyone was attacking her, but more trying to get her to move off the computer and keep looking for answers until she gets one. If her child is in that much pain and taking into consideration his previous episode there could be some serious implications that went undiagnosed at the local ER.

How many times has the ER here misdiagnosed patients? More than I care to count.

She needs to keep going and Children’s Hospital is the next logical step if not the specialist. I could have misunderstood the OP but I took it as the ER did not inspect her child’s cervical spine for swelling, masses, erythema, and ecchymoses or in the least perform a ROM.

It could be a wide range of things from meningitis to cervical spine infection. She has got to go to a specialist and the best are at Children’s Hospital.

You've made a good point. I understand that they are all just trying to help, I was just also worried from the "worried mother's" stand point. I hope everything turns out okay for them and it's not something more serious like menningitis.

If anyone gets in touch with Redneck Woman before I do, please tell her to check her PM's. Much of what she has described sounds eerily(sp?) familiar to me, as I have Hydrocephalus (Water On The Brain); not Meningitis. [I can help this lady.]

Save the "Water Head" jokes please. I've heard 'em all.
