Supper's Ready
...is the kind of stuff I won't listen to when I am feeling good about my playing. Fortunately, I haven't touched a guitar in a week, so, I can enjoy without wanting to cut my fingers off and feed them to the cats. :lmao:

YouTube - Danny Gatton at Gallagher's (Proper)

:larry:

One of the posters at youtube quoted about Gatton's playing, saying " I just threw my guitar in the dumpster" [after watching him play].

If I could find my guitar, I might do the same. Damn he's good. :yay:

...be incredibly humbling. It can also be motivating to get over humps and play better than ever. :larry:

Danny reminds me to play with touch. I tend to play too 'hard' which is fine in and of itself, but it is very limiting. Good players, to me, are folks who can play and incorporate different styles and phrasings and not just wail away at warp speed. Battio, Yngwie et al; BORING. Gatton, Zakk, Adkins; players.

OK, how about a shorter list. The less famous Best Bass Players.

Here are some of mine, in no particular order.

Les Claypool - Primus

Chris Squire - Yes

Tony Levin - King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, and countless others. Also Fantastic on the Chapman Stick

Geddy Lee - Rush

Victor Wooten - Bela Fleck & The Flecktones

John Entwistle - The Who

Steve Harris - Iron Maiden

Geddy Lee always impresses me on the Bass - he can groove and sing at the same time!

I'm not familiar with him/them. Anything by them I might recognize by name?

Geddy is amazing, singing and pulling off fantastic bass work at the same time!

Chris Squire's solo of Amazing Grace in one of my all time favorite bass solos.

I think Tony Levin is my all around favorite bass/stick players. Always cutting edge and ahead of his time. King Crimson's Discipline is on my top ten list of albums.

And for the guitar fans, he also produced at least one of California Guitar Trios albums. Also incredible musicians.

Let's not forget Gary Richrath from REO, and Tom Scholz of Boston.

Where's Leslie West?

I couldn't help notice that Leslie West was not included in your list. I still would've voted for Hendrix, but West should at least be in your list. IMHO
