Dumbest things people have said to you..

I appreciate all of the concern...I actually heard newbies asking which bike is right was one of those dumb or annoying questions ppl ask --trying to stay in line with the forum. My mind is made up...I sat on a 883 for 10 min, a vtx1300 for the same, and felt more comfortable on a R6. Don't know why, I have a back --with a problem-- that's supported more in a crouched, leaning over type of position. Felt numbness and lowerback pain in the crusiers' riding position. I'll be riding from Lusby to DC daily once I complete the MSF course in March, so I hope to see you out there!

You have learned well, young weed-whacker. The "Sit-Up-And-Beg" positon punishes the lower back, which is why most cruisers are best suited for short hops. See you on the road, keep the shiny side up.

I've had back problems for years.. and my back hurts for days after travelling to Syracuse by car..

BUT driving 800 miles in one day on the bike.. NO problems.

Not a crotch rocket, but a 'sports tourer'.. Little more upright than an R6.. R6 you may need barbacks or risers just to take the weight off your hands and wrists.. peg loweres to get your legs a little more straight.

Make whatever bike you pick fit you.. all kinds of 'mods' you can do to a bike to make it yours, and be the most comfortable for you.

Rotax motor?
Ed

No. that's the 1125R. The motor in the XB12XT is the 1203 Thunderstorm motor...highly modified Sportster Motor. Aircooled. 103Hp, 83 ft-lbs. Very low maintenance, easy to work on.

AS much as I like the 1125R, I think I'd be more comfortable riding the XB12XT, for longer distance, and for more years. Heated handgrips, full size windshield, 50+ mpg...

Check out the Adventure or Sport touring bikes before you buy. You don't have the cruiser "slouch" seating position and you avoid the wrist killing "push up" position of the sport bikes.
It's also easier to load on some locking luggage which will come in very handy if you're planning on a daily commute.

And the oil in the swingarm.
 that reminds me of a dumb thing I heard.
Girl I know pulls up on a borrowed Sporster. She's all proud and tells me she just filled up the bike with gas and even rememberd to fill the reserve tank.
I'm  and ask where exactly is this reserve tank you filled?

She points to the oil tank.

 Did you clue her in? What did she say?

Believe it or not, some Harley riders are too ignorant to read that it says "Buell American Motorcycles" in HUGE letters, on the top of the "gas tank".

Are they a division of Harley Davidson? When you search them up it says this:

Buell Motorcycles
Official site for the Harley-Davidson division.

Eric Buell was an engineer at Harley and decided to build a sport bike using a hot-rodded version of the 1200 Sporster engine. Started his own company and came up with some really innovative bikes but struggled to make ends meet till Harley bought 51% of his company.

Not that it matters, but I like Guzzi's. JMO. :howdy:

:lmao: When I was a kid I had a MotoGuzzi 125 Scrambler. Used it exclusively on the trails (didn't have a license yet..). I literally drove it into the ground. Not much left of it.... took it to the dumps.

So why do Harley people not like them????

I personally don't like any bike but mine :lmao:

Seriously....I personally don't mind any bike....I like Harleys and that's the reason I got one

What I don't like is the guys that have that "my bike is so much better than your Harley, because......." mentality

On that same note, What are you rider's views on Victory Motos..??

I looked at them at the fair last year.. VERY nice. Don't know about reliablity, but that being said, I haven't heard anyone complain about the reliablility either.

BIG bikes.. seem to be well designed, with some current technology in their motors, braking and suspension.

If I was going to go with a cruiser, think that would be my choice.

They use to (pretty sure they still do, but who thinks snowmobile in SOMD??) make a pretty mean snow-mobile too!
