Okay...this for for those of you who are only capable of thinking one level deep. :banghead:

Freedom of religion: We are free to practice whatever religion we see fit, or to not practice religion at all (freedom from religion).

Have a nice Friday. Cheers!

So, change the channel... isn't that what you would say about people who don't like certain things on TV and claim they should be censored? Nobody said you had to be religious. No one said you had to go to the class. Are you afraid if there are classes you might accidentally overhear something and believe it? Poor you. :lmao:

Stephen Colbert vs. Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (GA)

The Colbert Report - June 14, 2006

Congressman Westmorland wants the Ten Commandments posted in government building but reveals that he only knows three of the ten commandments. The "oh no" look on the Congressman's face when Colbert ask him what the Ten Commdanments are is a worth a million bucks!

Well, wasn't that short and sweet? When I saw your name as the last post, I thought, "Great - another 12 page dissertation."

I am pleasantly surprised and this may be the only post of yours that I read the whole way through. :yay:

I am ecstatic! I hope all states follow suit! I've had quite enough of the politcally correct Bible bashing a-holes. To each is own. If you dont want to believe in God, more power to ya but what right do you have to eff it up for everybody?! It SHOULD be offered, whether your child takes it or not, is up to you. It use to be in schools and God use to be everywhere, is it just a coincidence that back then, we had less violence and children were brought up with better morals and values? Could be, but my money is on the fact that God was an aspect in most people's everyday lives. Just my opinion.

*I just saw the date on this and didnt realize it was old. Dunno if I had even read it before, however, my opinion still stands

I agree. The Bible/religion is such a large part of our cultural heritage that it's a damn shame that so many people these days have absolutely no knowledge of it whatsoever.

Is the Separation of Church and State one of those Bible based cultural concepts, customs, traditions and practices that we inherited from preceeding generations?

It says right there in what you quoted that they are elective classes, meaning you choose to take them and aren't forced to.

Who cares, but I am sure it is all spelled out. Why don't you run on over to Georgia and see for yourself?

What "separation of church and state"? Please show me where it says that in our constitution.

First you need to show us where the Constitution grants the government authority over the natural rights of conscience.

It's right there in the First Amendment where the government's authority is restricted by declaring that Congress is prohibited from interfering with the people's free exercise of religion. Now show us where the Constitution says that the government must be totally silent on matters of religion as implied by your use of "separation of church and state"?

Huh? What do you think the rights of conscience are; and how does a provision that was intended to protect the rights of conscience get twisted into government authority over those natual rights?
