Witnesses said they dog was trying to get away from him.

There were no witnesses. Those people deduced the dog's actions from the photos on FB.; they even said so.

So that is not one of the many reasons why this guy is a POS. Posting the pics of the dead dog pretty much tells you that he has some problems. That does not, however, excuse the person who is responsible for the dog, nor does it excuse those mental defectives on the Lost Animal page.

I am so very blessed
Vrai.. The point that pisses me off the most. Witnesses said they dog was trying to get away from him. The dog was crawling on his hind legs onto someone elses's property. So after he shot him he followed him and dragged him back to his property. That is why he is a POS. If Tank was charging him why would he have been shot in the back? The idiot put on Facebook that the dog was going to die and there are other witnesses that stated that they were baiting him with food onto the property. I have control of my dog when we are outside but sometimes accidents happen. This was deliberate. I'm not saying the owner is innocent either. I agree that some of the comments are uncalled for. Personally I am not being hysterical or ridiculous. I think people are sick and tired of people getting away with this BS. If he would have been properly charged and held accountable for his crimes this situation would never had happened.
if people had the forewarning to know that he was making threats against the dog, and those people very likely had common friends with the dogs owner to communicate those threats to the owner, why didn't the owner take better care to keep the dog on their property?

Look, there are several people to blame:

(1) the dog owner for failing to keep the dog on their property
(2) the daycare owner for "allowing" a dangerous breed dog on and around her property, and encouraging contact
(3) the animal zealots on the Justice for Tank website who, essentially, want this man dead or in jail for the rest of his life
(4) the shooter who had guns despite his legal inability to be around guns
(5) the shooter for being a douchebag druggie and small-time career criminal, making unlike able and untrustworthy
(6) plus probably lots of other stuff......

Surely you jest ...

This action alone screams volumes to me. I've always felt that just taking the pictures was a sign of problems, but having the nerve to post them is off the charts. He gave himself up and didn't care. Showing he feels he is above the law as well as his peers. Some may feel this a little strong, but psychopath comes to mind. He definitely has some serious issues and they need to be addressed ASAP before he's posing with a corpse for satisfaction. I don't buy into the 'he has a drug problem' defense either, just sayin'.

Vrai

This was taken from Dep Boyer's report

Cpl. Boyer spoke with other witnesses who advised they were in a nearby garage when they heard one shot. About 10-20 minutes later, they heard a second shot. Once hearing the second shot the witnesses came out of the garage and observed Tank crawling away from Woodburn’s property. The witness went on to say Tank was “dragging his hind legs” and thought he was about to die. The witness also stated they observed Woodburn following Tank armed with a rifle. Investigators spoke with Woodburn on March 21, 2014 and learned he fired the two shots from his front porch in the direction of other residences and a day care. Witnesses stated Tank had made it to their property after Woodburn had shot him, however the victim located Tank deceased in Woodburn’s yard.

I stand corrected :peace: But at the end of the day, the dog shouldn't have been over there in the first place.

Thought some of you will be thrilled to know Tank's owner got a new puppy. Saw it on the Justice for Tank FB page.

Thanks for sharing that, mitzi. I think a lot have been bummed about this whole situation, no matter what their opinion. I read on Baynet that this story was in the top 4 most viewed ever on their site. It is hard to lose a beloved animal, but I think, sometimes, to replace it helps to heal the wounds, so to speak. I know it is a small story in our small somd community, but it is, also, huge in how it speaks about how crazy our world is, in general.

When I said thrilled, I should have put "thrilled" as in :sarcasm: given the way many feel the owner is irresponsible. I need to remember nobody on here knows me, my sarcasm or humor.
I DO hope they have something outside for the puppy to be confined in so he doesn't wander too. I saw that on the Bay Net too. If the moron hadn't posted his trophy picture on FB, the public would have never known about this. We may have read about a dog being shot in Ridge if it was reported, but the "trophy" picture I think is what outraged people. As I said before, if the dog was vicious then yes, he would've had the right to shoot it (my shephard/husky mix was attacked by 2 pit bulls in my yard and they tore him up bad, if I had a gun I may have shot them. I had an axe in hand while trying to get him in my door, it was a horrible experience). Evidently the guy's story didn't add up or they wouldn't have pressed charges against him. I don't think he'll get off so easy on this like all his other charges in the past, there's been too much outrage from the community.
I'm rambling..too much coffee and tea today. :cartwheel

 I know about late nights. My thing, right now, is my daughter's wedding is in a month. I don't need caffeine; it is all adrenaline! Ahhhh! I guess I was thinking of the children at the day care that loved Tank so much. But, I see what you are saying about irresponsible, and letting a pet roam. It could be disaster all over again. As far as sarcasm, no one ever gets mine, either.

I don't think I will ever shake my Pollyanna syndrome. That takes me down a lot! We have two pits on our street that the neighbors seem to not keep track of. They come over and want to play with us (my indoor cats freak out when they see them), and the dog next door, Sam, who is enclosed on the electric fence loves when they come over to play! I have never had a bad experience with a pit. I do know that no one should let their pets roam because bad things happen, and it is the law I just wish that there could be more harmony. No, I will not bring out Peace Frog!

I've had dogs that were escape artists too, so I surely understand pets getting loose. I never minded loose dogs hanging around my house as long as they weren't bothering anything. They usually came around to hang out with my dog. The 2 that attacked my dog I had never seen before or after it happened. I don't know where they came from.
No peace frog needed, I was just clearing up I was being a smart a$$ lol I can't say if the owners are irresponsible or not, I don't live in their neighborhood. No matter what, I don't think the guy had any right to shoot him if he wasn't a vicious, mean dog coming after him or his dog.

I meant bringing out peace frog on this thread in general because there has been some very heated discussion. It wasn't directed towards you! We will, eventually, 'get' each other!
