Janet Yellen blames Americans' 'splurging' for record-high inflation

Are you of the impression that we are selling more cars than we did last year, or the year before?
No. I am of the impression (related to car/vehicle sales) that people are still buying them even with the dealer upcharges. Maybe not as much as previous years but still moving product. If the economy is crushing people, why are they still moving these new vehicles at inflated prices?

For your considertaion ...

Such as the carry trade? I do not participate in currency speculations/manipulations and have nothing to do with the casino known as FOREX trading.

Still waiting for examples from you of the dollar gaining value that the consumer actually can benefit from.
Oh! You mean like money to be made in my Yen and Euro denominated saving accounts or the potential upside in my European and Japanese mutual funds?

Well, overall, they're down for the year and down from the year before and down from the year before that. You mention Dodge RAM? They are down for the year and down every month of this year - and the same from the year before. Ditto Ford. (I didn't look up GMC).

For many people, a pickup truck is as much a necessity as heat or electricity. They still sell - obviously not in as much abundance as previous years - but I'm really not familiar with such industries totally shutting down because the prices are too high. People still buy gas, because they have to.

I'm just not buying the idea that inflation has spiked for the past two years because people are just spending too much money because the data doesn't reflect it.

For a company like ours that relies mostly on exporting...the dollar's strength is hurting us badly.

Sorry for your luck. The thing about pendulums is that they swing. You had a decade or more of favorable conditions.

Try diversifying.

They can be made from aluminum, right?
I'm pretty sure this would help make a Tesla greener.

Wind power.

Just sneakin' around....
We stopped using aluminum in our fabrications. Too many customer complaints about close tolerances and chit.
Somehow, I don't think a tween/teen would care much about tolerances on a skateboard. As long as it rolls and has a fansy paint job.

In to what?

Do you have $1 million to invest?

Make up some product - it can be completely imaginary - then hire Lebron James or Oprah or Dwayne Johnson to promote it for you on the internet and TV. People will give you tons of money for this imaginary product and, because humans don't like to be the only one doing something, they'll pressure their friends and family into buying it, too. You'll be invited to go on talk shows for FREE to promote your imaginary product, and at that point your advertising takes on a life of its own and you don't have to pay a dime for marketing.

Before long you'll be a billionaire, and as soon as you hit that mark get out.

That's the #1 reason why scammers go broke: they get greedy and don't fold when they should.
