I like my couch. Rides well, looks good and I don't require $4,000 worth of accesories to feel "cool".

LeatherLyke saddle bags $400, Kurykan pegs aqbout $200, windshield $200, tank graphics $50, Cobra slip-ons $250 and the super cool levers with little skulls instead of balls on the ends were about $30.
 I'm under a grand (or close to it  )

But I started out at half of what yours cost.

I just got my motorcycle on Monday! It's a blue 2002 Yamaha YZF600R. I only have my learners and I haven't ridden it yet, but I plan to on Friday after I get the tags (weather permitting).

I've been trying to get into one of the safety classes, but being that it's the end of the season, they are all booked and I'm on the waiting list for the Spring (March maybe).

Forum ride in the Spring?
Go through Maryland MVA and take the course in Waldorf or Annapolis in the Spring. Register through College of Southern Maryland. It gets you your license in a 3 day course and also satisfies the Pax Base Safety Course Requirement.

Super Genius
So far for me:
Fieldsheer Eiffel Tank Bag - $70
Loobman chain oiler - $36
Front and rear stands - $125
Xena XES12 Disk Lock/Alarm - $40

My wish list totals ~$650, so if I get everything I want...<$1k (half of which is an exhaust and jet kit that I'm not getting for at least a year)

With the bike, that's still probably less than 1/3 the price of a Harley.

Oh yeah, and the bad thing about riding on base...the base person wouldn't give me a temp tag because I haven't taken the course that I can't get into. Well, she said she could give me one until Nov...

Before you buy a bunch of stuff, ride it for a while. It would suck if you really got into it, and ended up buying a GSXPQTDFRZZDHRZCCTR 5FRT after you spend moola on this bike.

Its all good...I made money off of it...but I did lose a SWEET gixxer... Im lookin at the 06 1000 now...not sure if I want it or not yet...I think I might wait a year or 2 till they get the weight ratio right so when ya crank into it, the front wheel dont try pullin up to a 90 degree angle..haha

I'm getting tired of the riding limitations inherent with the "cruiser" class. My round pegs are getting mighty flat on the bottom
The "adventure touring" bikes like the GS and V-Strom are looking good. Ergonimics somewhere in between racer boy kill my knees and back and cruiser barco-lounger.

Are you sure? I think you just want one of those bikes because it has more plastic covers for those rainbow decals.
