If the authority is our own... who determines the best authority under which to live? I mean civilizations change all the time. Who determines (authoritative) that we continue to exist? Parents brought us in... but who or what sustains us?

I'm not under a pre-conceived idea here... I am asking you, not me.

Your parents "brought you in"... by what authority keeps you here. Why obey a law for example... that can change and so by what authority does it change. Majority vote? Than why worry about that authority, it is not stable. You are here today... that's reality, by what authority do you remain tomorrow?

By what authority does it change. Is killing in the name of god bad today and good tomorrow... who makes this decision for the majority?

you really need to step out of the "god does everything for me" mentality or you will never understand.

Atheist dont need anyones authority, they just exist.

My questions aren't butchered... just think them through. We are wise enough as humans and have no need for a god. (I'm not trapping you into a religious thing here... I want to keep religion out of this context.)

Until the government says you don't. Or until some gunman says you don't. Or until civilization changes. What controls (authority) do we have to remain within a normal lifetime?
