Now you've piqued my interest.

This sorta happened at rehearsal the other night. We use NO double bass but we finished a new song that ends really sorta pretty and as I fade out in this little jangly D, sweet and all, the drummer just jumped on it and we joined in with this CHUGGACHUGGACHUGGACHUGGA thing.... hilarious. :lmao:

SRV's version of Mary Had a Little Lamb is sacred.... please don't desecrate his legacy!

One of my other all time favorites... The Fabulous Thunderbirds... Scratch My Back.

That's what I love about group playing, as opposed to what I do; things happen more spontaneously from collective minds going in different directions, yet reacting to each other in a common effort. My stuff is so structured that this just doesn’t happen; and sometimes it’s pretty frustrating from the standpoint that miss the band setting.

I've read all sorts of differing opinions on the level of carbs to stay under: 20, 50, 80. Not seen anything above 80.

Having only been on this diet for a few months (around 6) I still have concerns about eating too much cholesterol; especially since I do have family history of heart disease. So I'm curious... what does your typical weekly diet look like?

You've made a couple comments in the sub, I'll just respond here.

I beg to differ on the Keto = Paleo.

Differences Between the Two Plans

The ketogenic diet focuses on manipulating the three macronutrients, which are fat, carbs and protein.

The Paleo diet is more about the food choices. You eliminate dairy, grains and processed foods, but balance the macronutrients any way you want.

I know when I switched from Paleo to Keto, I was upset at giving up honey!! Honey is used all over Paleo and it's know where near Keto. Also includ the no dairy. I survive on dairy in the Keto world.

I had all my blood tests done in March and I'm going back in May to compare a 60 day difference.

Positivies from Keto Diet.

-Inflammation goes down, my wife has RA and it has helped her tremendously.
-Brain is more active running off of ketones, and more cognitive.
-Rapid body fat loss --Under 15% relatively quickly for me.
-Blood pressure plummeted from 145-150/95 to 120/80 within a month--Even with supplmenting a butt load of salt a day.
-Great Food Choices!! Meat, Cheese, Eggs etc..

M-Friday I eat

Workout on Empty Stomach-Afterwards a Protein shake that has 1 carbs in it.
Snack will consist of a Quest Bar with 3g of active carbs
Lunch will be 3 boiled eggs, fatty cut of meat, salad with full fat ranch
Snack 4 strips of bacon. Bacon is Keto gold. Its ratio of fat to protein is perfect for thet diet. 65% fat 35% protein 0% carbs
Dinner, chicken thighs w/ veggies, deviled eggs everyday(Old Bay Style Egg Yolks+mayonaise+mustard+Old Bay)

Snacks, Cheese, Almonds, Pepperonia, Salami, Ham, Lunch Meat, Small small portions of berries.

I strongly reccomend the link i provided early. Look at the 100s of people who have had success and there is multiple rated articles that back up the diet.

Also if you aboslutely have to drink alcohol---Rum + Vodka have Zero Carbs

:starcat:

The heart issue is only if you don't properly get your electolytes from either food, supplments or what you drink (Powerade Zero), you can have side effects from the diet. Cramping, etc..

Also yes during the switchover from your body going from carb dependant to ketones, you may experience flu like symptoms, but these can be remedied by drinking a lot of water and drinking chicken broth!!

Yeah, as I was all solo for the most part leading up to this, it has taken some time to adjust and be more free wheeling. I still don't improv readily as the other two guys can. That said, we've lost some dynamics from the rigid structure of playing to a drum machine and me doing bass and guitar parts. It was tighter before which I like and prefer. However, unless I'm willing to rehearse 5 days a week, that's not happening with real people. On the plus side is the creative process and some really cool parts and songs I'd never have written myself.

Thanks for the info. Being relatively new to this I am still seeking out info and love to learn more about it. It seems folks like to use Paleo and Keto synonymously. I fall more in line with Keto as I eat lots of eggs and cheese. I do not drink milk though. Lactose intolerant. I got turned on to this when I watched a video of Dr. David Perlmutter. My first alert was the fact that I am gluten intolerant and learning the plethora of health problems and inflammation associated with gluten. Then as I read his ‘Grain Brain’ I started taking seriously the brain health side of things since I have Alzheimer’s on my mom’s side. But the overall health benefits for the entire body make perfect sense.

Bottom line… gluten and sugar are your body’s enemy. People just don’t seem to understand the long-term damage they are doing to their bodies by consuming large amounts of carbs and sugar. I think I am like you where I just love meat and eggs; so much so that I pretty much forgot about eating all the sugary stuff.

BTW… I have a glass of red wine a night.

Day 3 1/2

Down 5#'s, energy level is fabulous. Cravings moderate to low. I did really wanted toast and butter this Am but, skipped it. Only carbs I've had so far was one beer two days ago. I sat through a meeting yesterday where the ladies I was with wolfed down a pile of fries smothered in gravy and I didn't have even one. Wasn't even interested. Then, a later meeting, there was a giant bowl of chocolates on the conference table and I glanced at it once, ignoring them for the next 2 hours. After that meeting, back to the office, a bunch of work that needed doing and home around 7, 16 hours after I came in. Nary a yawn. Went home and fixed up a big salad with turkey and a huge pile of steamed veggies. A week ago I'd have been spent, ate a bunch of carbs and gone to bed.

I remember how easy it became to not have much trouble skipping the carbs and, right now, the interesting part is a vague sense of 'it can't be this easy'. I remember that feeling, too. It IS this easy to feel better, lose the tonnage. Matter of swapping bad habits for good ones and, as simple as it sounds, that seems to be the very human challenge, just doing it.

So you know you're in good shape sitting at a two day festival pimping salad and the only carbs you've had is a sip of lemonade.
I got ice cream behind me hand churn to the right and popcorn and cider as neighbors.

Yesterday was what I think of as a perfect low carb day. A big salad for brunch (lettuce, HBE, roast beef, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, O/V), a handful of pecans for a snack, then a bowl of stir-fried veggies (carrots, broccoli, snow peas, mushrooms) with Moroccan meatballs (kefta :nerd:).

I should eat like that every day.

Yum

Just had an omelet and bacon. Salad and grilled chicken this evening with chunks of cheddar cheese to snack on.
